This hotel is close to the Thai consulate but it is very old.

Hard bed, the wifi works good in the lobby but not very good on the other floors.

Smells old in the rooms, very old tv, the bathroom is very old too and you just get some cheap soap, no shower gel, no shampoo... for this price in Laos, the cleaning is not very good either.

The staff is nice but this hotel needs to be renovated.

Better take a hotel in the touristic area near the bars and restaurants and take a taxi to go to the consulate if you go there for a visa.

It is few feet from the Thai consulate that is the only reason you will stay here, otherwise it is by any standards a DUMP. NOT DESERVING 3 stars on expedia not even by the stretch of the imagination. Since To get the visa you must stay 2 nights , If there are 4 star hotels in ten mile distance I would have gone there. Why? The bathroom is in a catastrofical condition, all broken or delipidated. The noise from closing the doors shot it will jolt you, and the people talking in the hallway is just awful. Everything here is so old and dirty that you will not feel comfortable. The air condition works. The wifi on the 4th floor is good, the bed is hard as a rock, The tube TV is from the 60. Well at breakfast no milk, no jelly, no pastry , only their soups, and processed meat. I wish someone would have warned me.

Room Tip: Higher floors have better wifi for 200 Thai baths more

There is no reason to stay here other than it is rignt across the road from the Thai consulate. If you are not going to the consulate get a nice hotel on the river.
I stayed for one night on a visa run and did not want to queue for hours in the sun.Half an hour before the gates opened (08.30) there were hundreds of people waiting.
The hotel is old and tired but clean with friendly staff.
The rooms are large and clean with good aircon.
Bathroom is large with instant hot water.
TV has two english film channels and RT,CNN and CNBC for news.
It offers a very basic breakfast but no food at other times.
The surrounding area has a few eateries,my favourite was Cafe Sinouk across the road, good coffee, good food and fast WIFI.
If you turn left out of the hotel there is a large Thai restaurant 50 metres down the road and a little further a western style pizza place.Across from the road from the pizza place is a mini mart.

WIFI in reception is poor and in the rooms non existent.

We came on Jan 19th and quiet low season and we knew no need to book. So they asked for a normal superior room 950 Thai Baht and after seeing the room we asked for better room and they offered us their " VIP " rooms. To be honest there was nothing especial about this room and in fact the room was horrible and dirty no light bulbs and small fridge was off and mold all over it and someone had a chewing gum and stuck it on the top of the bed and old Aircon and dirty old towels with blood stains on them. We asked for another " VIP " room since my partner didn't want to walk around so they showed us another room that was a bit nicer but we had to wait until 2 pm to get it as wasn't clean and ready.
Breakfast was quiet good last time we were here but this time was a joke. They use to have toaster were you could toast your bread and this time nothing. Also " Ants " were all over the breads and fruits and the selection of the foods was horrible. They use to offer the pack of tea bags and coffees which this time nothing. I noticed the Price gone up ( knowing we are on low season ) but the Quality of the Rooms and service gone badly down. With the price we have paid honestly we could have gone a nicer and better place. I hope the owner read this and realize how important is to " BE FAIR " and offer the Fair service compare to amount of money they get.
I do not recommend this place at all unless you are very desperate and lazy to walk few blocks to get something better.
By the way I red the comments of some people here about this hotel is close to Thai embassy and my answer is " So what ? " there are many hotels and guest houses in the walking distance of the embassy with better service and lower price " which we found out after words "
