There are few real ‘sights’ in Vientiane which makes Patuxai a must see. Before you go check out the history surrounding this monument and how it was funded. Spen 30 kip to climb to the top for some good views. Ignore the distrust tourist shops on the middle floors. Great views down to the presidential palace. Gab an ice cream and sit under the shady trees at the end of the park. Try to avoid the hoard of local photographers who will snap your picture, print it and chase you up to sell you a copy. Look up under the arches for some attractive art works and finishes.

This beautiful monument is truly worth a close up. You can buy a cheap ticket and climb to the top during the daytime. There’s markets set up on every level selling souvenirs and the views and ornamentation of the building are amazing. I also visited at sunset and was thrilled by all the tiny birds that seek shelter and fly around and twitter until they’re settled then the quick tiny geckos come out and make their presence known. It makes the building feel alive with energy

Worth.the visit for the view of city. Not much to look at but enjoyed the little markets inside. Architecture cool and you can climb stairs to various levels and the check out stalls . Was never completed due to conflict in Laos but still it's worth a quick visit

Stop there on your way to the temple but it's just a block of concrete on the middle of the avenue!!

Walked here from the night market. It was quite a walk, but it was a good way to explore the city and take photos of the monument from afar as well. It does remind me of Arc de Triomphe in Paris, but this one had its own charm. The intricate ceiling design was a beauty behold especially with how it's lighted at night.
