We were greeted at the hotel with a cold drink and towels. The reception is a basic space with the bar / restaurant off to one side. The entrance has a slight smell of sewage to it but as it was raining we assumed that this would pass
Going up to the room I nearly asked the receptionist to take us straight back down. The corridors and common areas have seen better days, with chipped paint and no aircon.
However when we arrived in the room we were surprised to find a very large very comfortable room with great views and efficient aircon.
We had room 34 which was facing the downstream river - which at night is lite up by lots of lights. Being on the 3rd floor the noise wasn't so bad. There is also a balcony to watch the view and the world go .
The room has - good sized bed and a sofa area. There is a TV with some English language programmes. The bathroom was clean with a huge bath. Only downside was the bath being made out of stone which wade it hard to get comfortable and the water cooled down very quickly.
2 bottles of water were provided daily.
The hotels location is very good - close to the national museum and the river. There are plenty of dining options on your door step.
We had breakfast included which was an al a carte menu. You picked off the restaurant menu and signed a bill which was zero'd. If you are paying be careful of your choices. 2 eggs are $2.50 and come with half a tomato, a hash brown and toast. If you order the $12.00 English breakfast you only get an extra slice of toast, a thimble of beans and a coffee on top. I don't think either morning we got exactly what we ordered...
There is a bar on the roof top too. Drinks are dearer than on the ground level outside the hotel but the views are great.
Overall - good location and great rooms. Just need to improve the common areas & breakfast to bring up to quality.
