As an cinema-visitor I stumbled upon The Flicks 3 on #258. The Flicks Community Movie House has three different locations/cinemas known as The Flicks 1,2 and 3 that are scattered over central Phnom Penh. The FCMH shows a wide variety of movies ranging from new (Boyhood), time-relevant (Good morning Vietnam) to ever-relevant (The killing fields, a documentary). If you decide to buy a ticket ($3.5) you can see all the movies on all locations using that same ticket and that's a pretty sweet deal.
The first thing that I thought about when I stretched out on a seat for four was how cosy all of this was. If I ever would earn enough money to build myself a cinema (just you wait!) it would look something like this. As the movie of choice started, Good morning Vietnam, the big bowl of popcorn ($2.5) I ordered was also delivered to my seat/couch and I thought that THIS is what my Phnom Penh is about; watching old Robin Williams-movies played from Windows Media Player in a cosy surrounding, getting popcorn delivered in your lap while half the town is getting flooded by the crazy downpour outside - beautiful!
With air-condition and pillows you could rearrange however you wanted to, this place made me feel almost too comfortable as I nearly fell asleep, partly put in a coma from the huge amount of popcorn I pushed in my mouth. As always, bring a sweater or something warmer as it can get pretty chilly.
All and all it was a darn good movie-experience and I will definitely come back
