- Free Wifi
- Breakfast included
This is a very fine hotel, full-stop! There is nothing to complain about the spacious rooms and comfortable beds and pillows. You are guaranteed a good night sleep, which is the most important thing in any place, in almost total silence. The air conditioning is also very quiet but did pack up on one occasion.
Even so,the service is extraordinary and the staff are first-class. Noting is too much trouble. The cuisine in the main restaurant is also exceptionally good and the Japanese restaurant equally so.
The swimming pool is, however, poorly managed, with no staff visible and towels left willy-nilly all over the place.Since the view from this site is not particularly attractive, a tall bamboo fence along the canal side might be a good idea.
The hotel is also rather pricey and with greater discounts might attract more visitors. There should also be free Wi-Fi, as this is standard in many countries.
All in all this is a hotel we would recommend and would return to one day again.
Thank you for taking the time to write about your recent stay at Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra.
We are delighted that you enjoyed your spacious room as well a good night sleep with our Sofitel MyBed concept. A heavenly bed that gives you that feeling that you sleep on fluffy clouds!
Thank you for pointing out the "'extraordinary"' service and the ''first class"' staff you experienced during your stay. Our Ambassadors really enjoys it when we get a positive review because it reinforce that they did a good job and like working here.
Thanks again for your feedback and your business.
With very best regards,
I travel a lot and usually stay in luxury hotels. In February 2012 I stayed twice at Sofitel Phnom Penh and had a memorable experience each time. The maintenance, ambience and decor of the hotel, garden and pool are excellent as the comfort, cleanliness and maintenance of the (luxury) room which is rather spacious and offers a great view of the city. The location is perfect either for a business trip or a leisure tour. Excellent choice of tasty food also for a vegetarian like me, which is rare in Cambodia! All the associates are competent, courteous and very kind. They make the guest feel at home, anticipating needs and requirements. Since the first check-in I received a warm welcome and had been pampered during the entire stay. Even if not a member of this chain I was offered a late check-out.The cars provided are excellent and the drivers competent, friendly and helpful. Hence I take the opportunity to thank the GM Mr. Chevet for his thoughtfulness and warmth.
We thank you for such a positive review on Tripadvisor and thank you for staying with Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra on both of your business trips last month.
I have shared your review with all our Ambassadors in order to encourage them to go on providing high standard of service as guests satisfaction is our true reward. We have a passion for our guests and interact with them in a very genuine way.
Please allow me to also thank you for the special mention regarding our vegetarian options we have in our restaurants. Our Executive Chef felt very proud when reading your satisfaction regarding the selection of vegetables and fruits we have daily.
We look forward to your next visit at Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra.
With very best regards,
The hotel is lovely, with fantastic large rooms, lovely decor, attentive and a good range of dining venues. However it may be more suited to the business traveller because as tourists if we wanted to go anywhere it was by hotel appointed tuk tuk. The entrance is so long that no street tuk tuks can come by, you can't pop out for a quick cold drink and there's no ATM at the hotel, so overall for us it wasn't very convenient. Although clearly the best/largest hotel I think next time I would get a hotel closer to town, but I'm sure the quality won't be as good as the Sofitel! We ate at the Italian restaurant which was just amazing and very affordable, just make sure you order from the French head waiter as some of local ladies appeared confused, and even tried to top up my red wine #1 with a our different bottle #2. We had a day off from touring and was looking forward to a pool day of reading, snoozing, lunch and some drinks. Unfortuantly the hotel pool is very close to heavy construction going on across the stream so a heavy jack hammer type thing ruined any serenity. The pool was not staffed at all, so after people had used the morning towels they were not replenished and just left dirty on the lounge chairs all day. If you wanted to order anything you had to it via the phone. The man I spoke had real difficulty with English and was not familair with the cocktail menu, after 10 minutes back and forth with all sorts of interepretations (daisy hall begger) we gave up and ordered beers which he could understand better. This took 25 minutes to arrive! We also wanted help getting to Siem Reap but were told the tourist desk doesn't open over the weekend and to wait until Monday (our day of departure)??? Look you expect a few ups and downs, this hotel was a nice visit, rooms were the biggest and nicest we had in Cambodia, just factor in tuk tuks to get around and stock up on simple supplies off site (there is no convenience style shop for water, softdrinks, ice cream etc).
We thank you for your positive and constructive feedback here on Tripadvisor.
We were pleased to read your satisfaction regarding the quality of the large rooms and the good range of dining options we have.
We are sorry for the inconvenience caused regarding additional reminders to your multiples calls at the hotel pool as well the confusing service in our Italian restaurant. Both issues has been addressed in order to avoid any future occurence. We understand the hindrances and frustrations you have been through and we apoligze for these occurences.
Please rest assured that this is not a true reflexion of our normal practices and we hope you will give us the opportunity to prove this to you on a future stay at Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra.
With very best regards.
