We spent a week near Bang Tao beach and spent time at some of the beach clubs, mainly Catch and Blue Siam. The beach in front of Catch was nice, with only light rubbish and debris on the sand. Had been stormy in recent days which may also account for the cloudier water and floating rubbish - mainly plastic being washed up. Also a water inlet next to the beach club which looks a bit squalid. The beach in front of Blue Siam was quieter with fishing boats using the shore. Seemed to have hundreds of pieces of glass scattered around the beach, and several beer bottles. I spent 20 minutes with my son and a bucket collecting lots of pieces. Not sure why this part of the beach would have so much smashed glass pieces but it detracted from the beach and is a concern with young children. A beautiful stretch of beach but not the cleanest.

We stayed at the southern eng of the beach in a beach front resort.
The beach is long and is very clean. You can see people cleaning the beach early in the morning and even checking the water for any debris. The swimming area was clearly marked and had a soft sandy bottom. It can get busy at times but not as busy as some of the beaches to the south.
There is a constant stream of beach vendors but they were not too pushy and are not allowed to come onto the resort. One lady had a portable barbecue and cooked sweet corn to order.
Further up the beach is an area where sun beds can be hired and there are a few stalls and places to get food.
On the road behind the beach there are all the usual bars, food places, tourist shops, places to book tours, chemists, money changers and of course massage parlours. There are mini supermarkets near and a Tesco Lotus a short taxi ride away. There are plenty of taxis and Tuk Turks and it is easy to use them for the airport, Patong , other beaches or the twice weekly local market which is definitely worth a visit.

The south part feels overcrowded, but not too bad. Many high class resorts means that the prices at restaurants/bars are on the high side.

We found this beautiful Beach while we were exploring the Island with our motorbike. It is a long and clean beach where you can rent umbrellas and there are plenty of small beach Restaurants where you can eat local thai food and some american dishes like hamburgers. The water is very clean and is not so crowded like Kamala it Patong Beach.

Not too busy, clean sand. Always something happening without being crowded. Little crabs in sand. Warm water sometimes with little stingy things (I don't know) they were harmless. Polite traders. A wonderful corn lady, I think the best corn I have ever tasted. Water shallow enough for non swimmers/kids. A long beach with a few beach bars/food and watersports. Nothing tacky. Lovely for a stroll on an evening watching the chinese lanterns flying overhead. I loved it.
