Essentially this restaurant caters for people wanting simple European food, So most of its clients are ex-pats. It is a cheerful place with tasty food - chicken liver pate is a delicious starter and steak Rossini is a treat. And service is impeccable. No need to book, nor to dress up specially.

Cafe Ritzi

Chef John had a restaurant in Jomtien Complex up to a couple of years ago. He has now reopened the restaurant in a new location. It is on Thappraya Road as you approach the arch and is directly opposite the 7-11 & Subway. It isn’t easy to spot. It has a red awning and the most noticeable thing is probably the chilled glass cabinet right at the front of the restaurant that holds the homemade desserts.

There are a few tables in the outer area with ceiling fans and then sliding doors to an inner air conditioned area with 7 or 8 tables. Everything is clean, neat and tidy. Very well set out.

He has been open here for about a month now. I went in with a friend one evening just for dessert. The raspberry cheesecake was delicious and my friend thought the rhubarb crumble was excellent. We went back the following evening for a full meal.

A 3-course meal is on offer for 395 baht. There are a large number of dishes to choose from but the availability may vary slightly from night to night. I think there is also a ‘budget’ offer if you don’t want 3 courses. I expect the menu will settle down once the restaurant has been going a bit longer.

I had leek & potato soup, followed by cheese-topped sea perch with vegetables and apple tart & cream to finish. My friend had prawn cocktail, followed by duck in port wine sauce and rhubarb crumble & ice cream to finish.

Everything was absolutely excellent and neither of us could finish our meals. Very generous portions of most things. Honestly, right up there with the best meals I’ve had in Pattaya - and I’m not easily pleased.

I have eaten there with friends a few times recently and everything has been excellent -roast lamb, chicken, steak...

John is quite a character. He is far from being a young man but obviously loves running the place.

Just note that it is closed on Mondays.

A new restaurant in Jomtien. I met John and he sold me on trying the Lamb. It was excellent and the veggies were great. The portions were quite large and the setting was elegant. The prices were a little high for Jomtien but the quality was great.

John started the famous Ritz. Then it became cafe john due to some inheritance issues. So john started cafe ritzi but later moved to the main road heading to jomtien beach. Near subway sandwiches. John is 86 and has been cooking as a passion all his life. Now cafe ritzi is up and running except Monday nights. So get there at 6 and the food should be coming. 3 courses for less than 400 baht. Great. It's only 8 tables or so try your luck or book.

Ate here 2 nights in a row, barely managed to get through the 3 course meal. Nice to have such a large amount of veggies with my meal choices too (I tried the salmon one night and chicken the next). Staff were lovely and seemed very happy - always smiling and joking with each other! I even ended up giving one of the waiters my facebook but he has since vanished with a deactivated account :-( maybe he decided its not wise to befriend the customers :-( Anyway it is a nicely set-up and run restaurant and I shall surely eat there again in a future trip.
