“Superb luxury Villa, perfect private pool & close to the beach”
Reviewed 1 November 2015 for a stay in July 2015

We selected this Villa very carefully for the start of our 17 day holiday in Thailand as we wanted luxury & relaxation to recover from the long flight and this villa certainly delivered. The 3 bed, 3 bathroom layout in the villa was perfect as travelling with our 2 teenagers we all had a private area. Whoever designed the bedroom layouts is a genius, separate clothing area means no clutter in the bedroom, the showers are fantastic too. Kay (owner) was superb at every stage, the booking process was very smooth even though we manage to pay twice (yes really!) it was all our fault but Kay put herself out to sort the refund. The air con in the downstairs bed room wasn’t working properly during our stay and Kay arranged for the site staff to get an engineer to come out the next day. The onsite management team were very efficient too, they were there to welcome and explain how everything works in the villa, the fridge had a few welcome goodies in too (Water, beer, fruit). They showed us around and walked us down to the beach which was a short stroll down a paved path, then pointed out the Kayaks which my son loved and used every day, we snorkelled too, we had never seen a sea cucumber before. Kay also arranged the arrival Taxi transfer from the airport, as we had an early flight, 6am into Bangkok then the internal flight to Ko Samui arrived at 9am we assumed we would be hanging around unable to check in until 2pm or after but Kay had arranged for us to go straight in as the previous guests had checked out the day before, I’m sure this isn’t always the case but it was great for us. Other reviews have mentioned some building work and the apartment block nearest the road did have some work going on, such as laying a parking area & fitting out the balconies and I’m sure this will have finished now. There is a mini mart 2 mins walk down the main road which is well stocked and well priced and lots of restaurants our favourite is only open at lunch time, left down the beach about a 10min walk called Siriphoca, its basic but great food.
This villa offers a slice of the Samui experience and we loved it in a quiet corner of the island.

Thank you for taking the time to review our villa and we are so glad you enjoyed your stay.

The building work that was ongoing is now finished, the surrounding have been landscaped and the whole area looks beautiful. I'm sorry that it wasn't completed before your stay but there was an unexpected and substantial overrun on the schedule. Thank you for your understanding in this respect.

As for checking in early, we don't have guests checking in and out on the same day, so even if you arrive at 7am, the villa will always be ready for you. Same, on check out, the villa is yours til midnight if you need it. Having traveled with a family, arriving after a long haul flight, we know that you need to unpack and unwind, not spend hours sitting in your travel clothes in a bar with tired kids and your suitcases, waiting for your room to be available.

We are so pleased that you picked our villa for your holiday, we hope to be able to welcome you back soon.

“Wonderful Place”

We stopped here for two weeks and what a wonderful holiday it was.
Would highly recommend the villa. It has everything you could possibly need and housekeeping came everyday to do a quick clean, followed by a big clean and towel change twice a week. We had no problems at all, the management team were excellent and can arrange taxis, tours of the island and massages. Both the private and shared pool were excellent, I say shared pool, we were the only four people who used the shared pool for the whole two weeks. The private pool was cleaned daily and was lovely for a night swim to cool off. Would recommend Mr Chai for a tour of the island. He took us to all the places we wanted to go and we stopped off for lunch at a lovely restaurant with excellent views over the sea. The walking markets at Chaweng and Bo Phut are fab if you wan to pick up a souvenir, with lots of food stalls and plenty of bars. We took the day trip to Anthong National Park which I highly recommend. I would advise people to wear water shoes when swimming on the beach as there are lots of sharp corals and sea urchins, but the water stays very shallow and is ideal for cooling off.

“Loved every minute”
Reviewed 29 April 2015 for a stay in April 2015

After looking forward to a return to Koh Samui for a couple of years, we, (a party of 6 50ish adults), were delayed 23 hours at Heathrow. Communication with the owner was easy and her liaison with us and her property manager was faultless. Delayed again at Bangkok, but on arrival in Koh Samui the transfer bus was there to meet us. Arriving at Baan Pim after 48 hours travelling could have been fractious but we were greeted and shown around without fuss enabling us to relax and settle in. (Beer and essentials were a bonus, thanks).
After a couple of hours rest we opened our bedroom curtains for an amazing view of sun, sea, palms and beach. The property itself was faultless, housekeeping excellent, pool and shared pool great, and the beach.....and the sunset...wow.
If you want discoland jump on a local bus and for £3 to Chaweng you can see and experience all that Bangkok is famous for. Mae Nam or Bhoput walking markets are closer and great fun.
If you want R&R, local life, good food, and a relaxed time Bang Por is ideal.
Turn left on the main road 200 metres on the right is M
ae Sa ( Momma Sa), Excellent and cheap local food. There is a 24/7 mini market across the road.
Walk down to the beach and turn left and within 15 minutes there are 2 wonderful restaurants, cooking amazing fresh sea food. Squid, mussels, sea bass etc etc. Cold Chang.
A further 15 minutes take you past a range of other restaurants.
Turn right on the beach and there are some nice bars to sit and have a cocktail and watch the sunset.
We hired a car to see the island, Nathan for shopping, the south coast for sea views, and of course the Temples. easy to drive, just get a map of the sights.
All in all a wonderful time thanks to Baan Pim et al.

Thank you for your review. We are so pleased that you had such an excellent and relaxing stay, despite a difficult journey. Also glad that you found some of the great little places to eat and explore near the villa ... to be honest we think we have some of the best local food on the island within walking distance of our villa. “Staying with kids for 12 days”
Reviewed 21 February 2015 for a stay in January 2015

We stayed for almost 2 weeks in the villa with young children (1,2 and 4y) in Jan-Feb 2015. And we spent a lot of time in the villa, not so much touring around etc. because of the kids, which may drag down my rating because we used most of the facilities it provided and experienced most of the situations that can happen in there ...

The construction noise is absolutely unbearable! It is next door and easily visible to the downstairs bedroom & swimming pool. They started every morning at 8 (except Sundays) and finished at 5pm. Maybe this was excactly the time of drilling work of this huge buliding, but it was really annoying. We would have appreciated to know about this during the booking!
Our 3 children had to sleep during the daytime and this time we normally spend in the villa / swimming pool area. And you basically couldnt hear another person talking because of the noise.

Beside the noise, also a lot of dust was in the air, coming from construction I guess, and therefore the floors of the house outside and inside were constantly dusty. The towel carpet in the entrance from the pool side and outside bathroom were just too dirty and they were not changed daily!

The beach is 150 meters from the house, not 30. If it was 30 meters, this villa would be by the sea, not by the main road, which noise was hearable.

Beach chairs were occupied most of the days. Maybe it would be good idea to inform also Coconut Laguna villa visitors that these are for sharing. There were 2 bigger groups of people who just left their towels to the beach chairs and left for many hours.

The stairs to the second floor are really steep and narrow. One of our child fall down and we had to visit an hospital to stich the wound. We asked for baby safety gate (what is stated in the description of the villa), but that was not a proper gate, it was build from some available pieces , paired with a string and didnt feel safe enough for us.

An Upper deck of the dishwasher does not work, maybe needs some serious cleaning to be done or just a machine to be replaced. We did our laundry many times, whish was just a great option, but poor performance. Again, some deep cleaning for the machine maybe and you get your clothes without a layer of fluff.

We would have appreciated some more serious cleaning than just wiping with their brooms. Especially when we had 3 chidren spending their days on the floor... especially because of the contruction dust etc.

Downstairs bedroom TV does not have cable connected, just Internet, so you can not watch TV in there.

Internet was available for a few days and then I guess the limit was reached at the end of the month, so many days we had only really slow connection or mostly no connection at all. It was all better when new month started, but then we were already leaving...

A regular, simple cettle for making hot water would be appreicated. There was some 4 litre machine we didnt know how to work with to warm up water, just unusable. We asked for normal one, but it just was not available.

Taxi / transfer prices are double when booking via Pla. To Chaweng 800 THB transfer, when from Chaweng we got it for 400 THB.
For car rent we got twice really used someone´s personal car, Suzuki Vitara. And everybody from the maintenance team wanted to rent a car for us... Not really professional from the management point of view I guess.

Outside bathroom one of the sink didnt work properly.
And all sinks throughout the house bathrooms have wrong faucet / mixer that just doesnt reach to the sink normally and all places are wet once you have washed your hands.

We did point out all these to Pla as well, but I do not know if she really understood or cared what we told her.

I personally feel that this villa needs an owner view to see what needs some improvement and maintenance. Not much needs to be done, but some basics should be, to say it is a luxury villa... Cleaning team, most probably living in all different conditions themselves, can not see such disadvantages as we did, looking for luxury holidays...
We have spent last 3 years our winter holidays in different luxury villas (Thailand and Bali) and I can assure that this is just not a regular wining about the conditions... you can do better when offering luxury accommodation.

And some really good things to point out:
Kayaks were great option to spend a day. Beach towels provided, great! Enjoyed fresh water pool, no chlorine smell. Maintenane people lighting mosquito repellents were needed and a nice gesture, they were lighted each nice and normally you would not notice when they were doing this.
Welcome fruit and drinks were also nice gesture. Garden boy and swimming pool boy really polite.

When the construction next door will be finished and you are not absolute cleanliness freak, you will have a great holidays just by staying in the villa and swimming in the sea, spending days on the patio reading a book, go to eat on the other side of the road and take a massage on the beach (first place to the left when facing the sea). Drive once through the island (not main road, but through the hills/mountains) see the coconut trees and you have seen it all. The attractions mentioned in all brochures, you have seen better quality, no need to waist time on this.

As we were sleeping doors wide open and not using air conditioner we found a cat in our bed at last night ;) . That was funny!

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. I am sorry that certain items did not meet your expectations. If you had emailed me during your stay, I'm sure we could have resolved most of them immediately. I have spoken to the housekeeping team and the maintenance issues you have raised have been seen to. The construction noise you mention must have been at it's peak during your stay and as a parent, I understand how frustrating this must have been during nap times and early morning. We were unaware that it was so noisy and our neighbour informs us that it has since finished. I apologise unreservedly for these issues.

“Great Holidays”
Reviewed 5 February 2015 for a stay in January 2015

We stayed in Baan Pimalai for one week, my boyfriend and I with 3 other friends, the villa is really nice and we had a great stay.
Near to the beach (aprox 30 meters).
Rooms are big, bathrooms are huge ! Everyday a lady comes to clean a bit and in the evening another one comes to light up the "anti mosqutio" stciks.
The swimming pool is really enough to refresh and there is a bigger one 20 meters away.
We spent a lot of time on the "terrasse", but if you want sunbathing, forget doing it along the swimming pool in the afternoon, better going to the beach, the bigger pool or the upstairs terrasse... the sun is not there.

The beach was nice in front of the "condo" but if you walk a bit (i don't know if it was because of the high tides or the full moon party some days before our arrival) you will find lot of rubbishes (plastic bottle, shoes...). There are some rocks in the sea so take care.

There are some small restaurants at the opposite of the main street (100 m away) where the villa is located. There are also some on the beach (turn left when you look at the see) and a little "beach bar" also (quite expensive). The iced coffee at the 4 monkeys are really good also. But do not expect to go partying in this location, this is very quite !
If you go there to be alone, that's the perfect location, but if you like to have a drink in the evening, keep in mind it will cost 600 THB to go and come back.

You can also find beach massage (go to the right when looking at the sea)

The only inconvenient is that there is a new building being constructed next to the house, not too noisy but you can hear it from the outside of the villa.

I think this is perfect for families with young children, or if you need to relax and forget about everything.

Contact with Kay (the owner) was really good and we were welcome with fruit juices and beers. Fruits on the table were also much appreciated.
The only "stress" we had was that a taxi should have wait for us at the peer upon arrival and was not there. But we finally found one to drive us to the villa.

Thank you for your review! We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay at our villa. We do take care of our beach and have a dedicated maintenance team to keep it clean for our guests. Unfortunately, the public beaches elsewhere are not always maintained so well. The building work that you mention is close to completion and we have been told that it will be finished mid February 2015. This residential construction is behind the villa and across the driveway so not visible from any bedrooms, living area or pool. We were also curious about the taxi pick up from pier - our driver charged us your fee because he couldn't find you so I imagine you must have missed each other!!!

Thank you for your kind comments, our villa was built with families in mind, in a quiet area, and we work hard with our team on site to ensure our guests have a relaxing and comfortable stay.
