Had breakfast & coffee at The Hideout twice during our stay in Chiang Mai. What a lovely little spot. Service was some of the best of any cafe we visited on this trip. Food was fresh and delicious. Highly recommend giving it a shot.

The sandwiches are good and well prepared but have nothing extraordinary that can make this 'restaurant' number 3 on Trip Advisor. It's completely over evaluated. Cafe is OK but you can find hundreds of other places where cafe is much better. In addition the location has nothing interesting; it's just a small room without any garden or lovely area.

TripAdvisor's category for 'restaurant' implies that food is freshly prepared (in contrast to pre-prepared) and orders are taken at the table rather than at a counter. You'd also consider a hole-in-the-wall establishment selling pad thai to be a restaurant because it satisfies those conditions. The Hideout lives in the space between that and fine-dining. The majority of the TripAdvisor community recognise this and they (and TripAdvisor's algorithm) have decided this 'restaurant' is number 3 at the time of writing.

For potential guests I'd like to point out that this reviewer has correctly described our premises. You can see and read in reviews spanning the 4+ years we've been in operation that aesthetics aren't a focus for us. If you want beauty, calmness, scenery or anything like that then please seek an alternative establishment and get what you want. When you want unpretentious Western food made to order using high quality ingredients then come take a seat and we'll do everything we can to satisfy you.

Visitors The Hideout on Wed, Aug 29. Had the mango + passion fruit smoothie with probiotic yogurt and the banana bread. Would highly recommend this restaurant. Very low key. Inexpensive.

Best banana/mango milk shake in CM. The Caesar salad is perfection. The chicken on a bagel is my favorite sandwich and my wife loves the salmon salad. I’ve been eating here for years the consistency and passion can be seen & tasted I n every dish. The French toast with real maple syrup on house made bread is not to be missed.
