This delightful Guest House is down an alley way, situated on the river. The accommodation is clean and humble but comfortable, in a traditional Thai style building. The staff are lovely and the price is right!

Room tip: Some rooms are darker than others due to over hanging verandahs, so ask to see one or two and make your choice.

Comfortable, quiet area, walking distance to night market, affordable, like the garden very much. Stayed for 2 nights and it was also walking distance to hilal town where you can find halal food. Friendly staff and it was quick check in and check out.

I decided on this guest house, based purely on Trip Advisor recommendations. Without knowing how nice it would be, I booked for a night and stayed for my entire week in Chiang Mai. Everything was clean and comfy and located close to night bazaar and Old town. Staff were super friendly and organised all my day trip adventures. Couldn't have planned it better if I tried!! Thanks to everyone for a very memorable vacation.

By North American standards this might be considered a humble accommodation, but that's the point--it's not in North America. We have come to really appreciate the comfort and friendliness of the Galare House. It was our home in Chiang Mai for two weeks and it felt great at the end of each day to come back to this welcoming guest house. It is clean and comfortable, and the staff could not be more friendly.

It has all of the basics that are necessary to feeling at home for a few nights (or, like us, even longer). Abundant hot water, adequate WiFi in the rooms and the common area, and air conditioning in each room. The location is also good. It is right by the river, so it's easy to orient yourself. The Night Bazaar is just around the corner, and the old city is an easy walk. All of the taxi and tuk-tuk drivers know where it is, and the surrounding area has plenty of options for food and shopping. There's even a pharmacy just down the street that had everything we needed to deal with some minor injuries and illnesses. We quickly came to think of the area as "our neighborhood."

For the price, this is a great home base to visit Chiang Mai and the surrounding area. Highly recommended.

It's my 4th week here at Galare. I was going to rent an apartment, but for about the same price this little place of peace was hard to beat. Nice architecture, really pleasant people and the place is very well kept by the owner and staff. Down a narrow Soi it snugs up against the Ping River. It's a super quiet place among the zipping of motorbikes all around the Old City. The internet is reliable and fast so doing work is quite comfortable under the fans of the open air restaurant. There's also excellent insider tour advice to be found here. I'd give it a FIVE rating, but I never do that.

Room tip: A corner room with windows on two or three walls, but mostly the layouts are the same with direct access to the wonderful veranda.
