I dined at The Riverside with my sister and a friend and although it had quite a nice atmosphere with the live music and being on the river, I was seriously disappointed at the overrated quality of food at this restaurant. My sister had a pizza which was tasteless and after taking the leftovers back to our hotel we realised it had mould growing all over the base! I had a tuna sandwich in which the bread was so hard it might as well have been toast! And our friend had fried rice which again was tasteless and bland. The service also left a lot to be desired as there was a big party on the table next to us which seemed to be taking up all of the attention of every waitress/waiter there. Not impressed and would definitely not recommend eating here while in Chiang Mai.

We ate at this restaurant three times since the food was good and it was within walking distance of our hotel. It is right on the Ping River, so a nice location. We tried several Thai dishes, and they were really good. Their homemade ice lemon tea and mango sticky rice were really good and reasonably priced.

After reading somewhere that The Riverside now has "The Craft Beer Factory" alongside its long-established restaurant, and loving good beer, I had to check out the options. Very disappointing to learn that it's not a "factory" at all, and doesn't even exist as a separate entity (at least not during rainy season). Instead, we were directed inside of the main Riverside restaurant and ushered to a table. Informing the waitress that all we wanted was craft beer, we were shown a menu that included about 10 different imported craft beers. Most were from the U.S., and indeed good enough beers, but hardly an impressive offering. Only when nearly finished with our first round did we see a small card on the table offering another 10 beers or so of Thai craft beer (including some on tap)! Why the waitress didn't point these out to us is beyond explanation! Prices were OK, but the selection could be expanded and the staff needs lots of training on how to deal with beer lovers!
