The signs around The Artists Place say it all, "Some guesthouses make profits, we make friends." The first time we stayed there we planned to stay for one night and ended up staying almost two weeks. Perfect for those wanting a home-feel guesthouse with character rather than the busy and loud Khaosan Rd digs. Set in a charming, local Thai neighborhood but walking distance from the skytrain station. We've used Charlee's place as a homebase for our loop around South East Asia and always look forward to returning! Charlee is full of good advice on everything, from the best way to get to the weekend markets, to the best place to get your hair cut. They offer free filtered drinking water, free laundry, free tea & coffee, free wi-fi, free use of the kitchen and guest fridge. The bed we have is a bit hard but everything else definitely outweighs that. It may be a little difficult to find at first, but well worth the effort. I could not recommend this place more.
