There are two exhibitions and you have to choose the right one. The visit will take you 2 hours. So be prepared and take time with it. I attended the one about history of Thailand with so beautiful multimedia presentation. It was quite informative, formal and overwhelming but worthwhile. Another one about history of Bangkok will be more fun, as I have heard.
The True cafe on the Loft offers you an incomparable scenary of historical Ratchadamnoen Road and is a must experience.
This would be a good rest after visiting hot and crowded Grand Palace and Temple of Emerald Buddha. If you have BTS card, I think the promotion is still available

First of all, make sure you have 2 hours to join the tour. But trust me, if you want to learn more about Thai's culture and history, this is exactly the place you looking for. You can choose between two type of tours, the historical or the culture. Or if you have 4 hours free time, you can join both! Unfortunately majority the tour will be explain in Thai, however, bring your passport so you can rent the audio speaker that will help you explain in English. If I'm not wrong, the ticket is only cost THB100.

There are two exhibition routes to take here (you can visit both for 1 ticket). We're lucky to have tried the Exhibition No. 2 first because we really enjoyed how it was presented. What really attracted us was how different forms of media were used per segment: from motor-controlled boat, to functioning postcard, great use of projectors, and definitely how the content of each history details were well researched.

It will be kind of hard for a foreigner to understand some of the English pronunciation of the young ushers but you can still enjoy watching the videos with English dub (heard through a radio). Not bad for paying just 100Baht per person!

Very inventive concept. Takes you through a Thailand cultural and historical tapestry complete with smells, sounds and visuals.

Foreigners will need a headphone so they can get the videos translated into English. You need a 1,000 Bhat deposit or 500 Bhat and some type of ID (I used a driver’s license).

A pity that they didn’t make use of the headphones more so that the young staff wouldn’t have to try and explain things in English as few spoke it well enough to be comprehensible. Most just seemed to learn the words by rote.

There was some good information on the displays in English but I never had enough time between rooms to read it. I would have learned more walking through st my own pace and reading than listening to the guides.

Also, much of information cursory and not presented in as interesting a way as it could have been.

Such a shame as they spent so much money on this and the concept is so inventive with much potential.

It was a long two hours and I am glad i didn’t book both tours.

Just boring. A lot of adulation and idolatry over their monarchy. It's quite silly. I was hoping for a substantive history lesson on the city, people, and their way of life. But most of it was focused on his Holiness's deification.
