We booked the hotel via a groupon online offer so expected it to be budget all the way. We were pleasantly surprised by the hotel, their friendly staff - everything was lovely.

The decor is so so and the hall ways feel a little dark due to the red walls and soft lighting. Sound proofing in the rooms is good.

We weren't the ideal guests, in as much as we arrived at the hotel at 9am instead of the ideal check in time of 12pm. They said they would check us in as soon as possible and so we went to their reception cafe and ordered a cool drink.

Before the drink had even arrived to our table (a matter of minutes) they had assigned a hotel room to us and the porter took our luggage as we carried our drinks upstairs. We were delighted...as some hotels make you wait on principle.

The hotel room was clean and neat, with a good stocked fridge which had drinks and snacks. Plus complimentary water.

The bathroom had clean towels and toiletries. We asked for more towels and they came quickly. We asked for more pillows and they too came swiftly.

Our bath had a problem with water drainage and they sent someone up to fix it. Then later the hotel TV system went down - and they resolved this immediately.

We had snacks via room service which came promptly and were beautifully presented.

The breakfast buffet was wonderful. A good selection of everything. The first day we arrived we were late and so phoned ahead to apologies. When we got there - although the staff were packing away the food - they brought a selection of food and tea to our table and were very polite and helpful (it was our fault we were late).

the doormen open the doors on departure and arrival and welcome you, as well as calling cabs for you.

On the final day - as we were leaving they were upgrading the rather old style TVs to flat screens (judging by all the flat screen TV boxes in the hall way).

Internet was 50bht for 30 mins or 200bht for the whole day.

We also checked out late and they were still kind to us!

Overall a lovely stay in a handy hotel. (It's just a couple of doors down from the Swissotel Concorde Hotel) and walkable to the local underground stations as well as Robinsons shopping centre.

I stayed on the 9th and 10th Jan. After travelling all the way to Thailand we were very tired. The room we were in was on the 11th floor at the front of the hotel but we didn't have any problem with noise from traffic. The problem we had was being kept awake for both these two nights with the noise from the club. This should not have affected us as we were on the 11th floor and the club is on the 2nd floor but all we could hear was the boom from the music. When the staff were informed about the noise keeping us awake they showed no interest at all and appeared to find our complaint a joke.
The rooms are basic and the cleaners come in every day but I think they believe the shelves will dust themselves. This hotel needs a lot of refurbishment work doing.
On the plus side the breakfast was plentiful and well varied, the beds comfortable and some of the staff very friendly.

Room Tip: Go to a different hotel

I stayed in this hotel for 4 times already and still nothing much to complaint about.

Only thing inconvenient is that when you need to iron your shirt, you need to pay for the service. Wifi is not free either. Breakfast is normal. Rooms are good. 10 minutes taxi to local pubs (RCA, Route66, Slim, Flix)

300 meters to Huay Kwang Station.

We stayed on the top floor in one of the larger rooms facing away from the street. We loved the room, the staff was friendly and helpful. We didn't experience any problems from night club noise being so far removed, but it was funny to see drunk Thai girls in tiny dresses stumbling out into cabs in their heels as we were leaving for the airport at 5 am. Breakfast is good, not sumptuous. Better food for lunch and dinner at the seafood place down the street or in Bangkok old town (where all the tourist attractions are anyway) which is a good 20-30 minute cab ride away. The metro and skytrain will get you there faster, and a metro station is very close. Three malls surround the hotels, so you won't want for anything.

Room Tip: Stay as high up as possible and face away from the street (Ratchadapisek).
