On our first night in Bangkok for this trip we were anxious to dive into some street food. With many nice meals planned for the rest of our stay it seemed appropriate to kick off the culinary experience with the basics.

We weren’t disappointed with the variety of choices or the service as is often the case with such affairs. In fact the service was quick and friendly. Our ordering pretty much covered all the basics of Thai cuisine, from Tom Yum to Panang curry, and papaya salad to shrimp cakes. The food was tasty and it all went down rather fast along with the help of some Chang, Singha and Leo beer.

The prices were perhaps a little high for street food (still inexpensive) but appropriate given the slight premium for the tourists Mama Mia attracts.

No stomach aches the next day so it seems we adapted well to the local ‘flora’.

if you´re staying in Bangkok, you have to pop in for lunch or dinner. Either papaya - salad or pad thai or fresh fish - all food was always delicous. We´ve visited this location many times.

Absolutely great thai street food. Very laid back restaurant near the main road. We ate a bit of everything, and everything was top thai meals. Currys, thai noodles, papaya salad, spring rolls...it’s a must visit if you’re nearby.

This restaurant has plenty of seats in a side street to Silom. The Food was really fresh and tasty with a wide selection of Thai dished. Ehen we were there is was mostly visited by tourists but the Food was very authentic and cheap. The portions were huge so if you have rice with your dish just go for the small size or share. We had spring rolls, really warm and fresh and tempura scrimps, the favourite of our 10-year old. Pad Thai and chicken with cashew nuts, yummy! We asked for only little spice so actually no chili was used but we could season ourself with chili placed on the tables. We Will be back!
