Last month, I had a chance to conduct a trg workshop in Radisson Kathamndu and it turned out to be a fascinating one. Their banquette team, front office and others were extremely customer oriented and helpful. However, its their restaurant team takes the spot light. Not only their quality, taste and presentation of food steals the show but their staff's impeccable and very personalized service is what touches your heart. Great place for all types of tourist to stay and eat in Kathmandu as the hotel is close to most tourist places in the city. It also has a casino if one wants to have a feel of it.

Room Tip: Facing swimming pool on the higher floors.

I am aware that you cannot expect first class service in a poor country like Nepal. A country recovering from a catastrophic earthquake in 2015. But you should not be expected to pay a very high over-price when the service you are getting is corresponding to the standard of the place where it is located.Typically when you pay for a Superior Room you expect to be paying for the room, irrespective if it is single occupancy or double. Here you pay a high rate only to find out that you are just paying for yourself (your wife has to pay extra 30USD/day) and that you are not even getting breakfast. Which is served at 15USD per day. Which may not sound too much to the standard European traveller, but if you think that dinner for two in one of the top restaurants in Kathmandu will not cost you more than 25USD (including drinks), then you feel that you are being ripped-off.Going back to the Superior Room. Well, be aware that it is located in a different building than the rest of the hotel services. This means that, if you want to swim, you will need to get out of your room and building, cross the street half-naked, and then make it to the fourth floor of the main building (after showing yourself off around the lobbies of two different buildings) before you can enjoy a refreshing splash! Maybe you are overheated and would like to have a relaxing bath. Well, you can't. The Superior Room does not have a bath tube. Moreover, the shower has a nice see through glass to the room and if you want some privacy there is a thick curtain that insulates the shower area. Very nice (ans sexy) indeed. But it becomes less nice when you roll down the curtain only to find the is mouldy and (very) dirty. Getting to a new country some times can be a very stressful experience and you may like to be fetched by your hotel's shuttle from the airport. Well, while this is typically a free service in most hotels around the world, in Radisson Hotel Kathmandu this comes at a price. And at a price which is twice the standard taxi rate!If you are coming to Nepal, it is very likely that you are planning to do some trekking. In such case, you may be willing to live your more bulky pieces of luggage in the hotel and travel a bit lighter. Well, be ready to pay Radisson Hotel Kathmandu 15USD. Why? No reason. Just because the feel that they can take advantage of the needs of their clients. Any other hotel in the city will provide this service for free. The staff is lovely and diligent.

Dear Druiz,

Warm Greetings from Radisson Hotel Kathmandu!

We have inquired the whole scenario to understand however, we are surprised. You had booked yourself online mentioning that you need the room on single occupancy and opted for European Plan which doesn't include breakfast( CLEARLY MENTIONED IN ROOM FEATURES). However, you arrived with your wife so the charges for extra person and extra breakfast was levied.

You had not requested for any pick up or drop from airport and it was not charged either.

Moreover, we have no" SYSTEM OF CHARGING FOR LEFT LUGGAGE" and we did not charge you either for the same.
I have your complete bill and will be glad if you can send me if you have any other bill where charges were levied for the left luggage.

Will look forward to see you here whenever you visit and be my guest.

Gracias and Best Regards
Subrata Banerjee

I have stayed here a few times over the past number of years and the hotel is like a Grand Old Dame that is past her prime. This once was the go to place for upmarket accom in KTM. Alas now, it has lots of competition that beats it on price and service.

My reservation was nowhere to be found upon check in, but it did get resolved fairly quickly. However, I was then put into a room that is surely the worst room in the place (105). On the lowest floor, a smoking room with a view of the carpark. Not impressed. My tour leader subsequently followed up with the front desk, and my room was changed. Given that it was low season, and they had a lot of availability, I would have expected to have been given a better room from the start.

I had asked for bags to be collected from my room, which they weren't. Had to follow up, and on my second request, they did come.

I stay here because it is the hotel for the tour company I book with. But when I am not on tour, I stay elsewhere. Much better value elsewhere in KTM.

Room Tip: ask for a higher floor

Overall, the hotel is quite comfortable, with a full range of amenities, and in a good location. However, their security was extremely slow to respond to a security incident at the hotel, leaving my colleagues and me feeling unsafe.

Dear Melanie,

Warm Greetings from Radisson Hotel Kathmandu!

We must thank you for praising our services and appreciating the hotel.

We have noted your concern with regards to security. However, please note that a hotel security needs to maintain certain protocol before breaking into someone's room. The same was followed in toto and even the concerned embassy has checked our security and completely cleared the same.

However, our sincere apologies for the inconveniences that you went through in the process.

We are looking forward to see you once again.

Best Regards
Subrata Banerjee
