a good hotel is a gateway to a tourist's heart--i do not wish to rate any thing about this place but just to say that what makes a bad hotel good or vice versa is the ATTITUDE of its staff...and if the manager on duty is friendly, one can solve many an issue..but with surly and rude people managing the show-u can expect an experience close to what we can expect from hell....never ever again....

Room Tip: heard thru the staff the new renovated are better-but no courtesy shown at check in to talk about it...

I guess one expects cheaper prices in Nepal. The standard rooms were decidedly average, tired. The Club rooms were good, renovated recently, not bad at all. I guess the price (about 180 dollars including breakfast) seemed steep for what it was. Raddison, with better rooms, was just 150/night. But hey, it is a good feel to be in a proper hotel, with nice mattresses, and good functioning bathrooms/showers after a trek...

Room Tip: Club rooms, definitely. The Standard rooms (30% or so cheaper) are old and tired, while the Club Roo...

We are now going back to Annapurna hotel for the 4° time, and we find it very, very good. Excellent renovated rooms, good food and very helpful personel. The pool is also completely renovated, as the garden. Also its location is the best in KTM, near all shops, near thamel, intact the best !!! We will certainly book Annapurna hotel, each time we go to Kathmandu, and thats every year !!!!

Room Tip: De Luxe Rooms facing the garden

after spending 3 awesome days in kathmandu, thanks to a cancelled flight, we were put up here by the airline.this hotel only exudes arrogance in every way possible. I stayed in 3046 which as a hotel room is okay till you pick up the phone and order room service. The staff is obviously not smart enough to know the difference between an order that says "a pot of tea with 2 cups" and " 2 cups of tea in a pot"...hence i had to pay double ...on asking for a plate and a fork i was informed that the hotel would charfe 100 Rs for the same.
this was just the worst service possible
why does the hotel get away scott free...its probably the best located
so go for it only if your pride(in any amount) doesnt check in..the staff will definitely humiliate it.

Room Tip: ask for any room with the card keys...the manual ones are old and rusty

Our Stay at the Hotel had very mixed emotions, room pictures as shown on the website to the actual differed to a great extent. I do smoke, however, there are some serious ventilation problems in the room. Room is quite stuffy, and it feels as staying in an old mansion. Very noticeable in the rooms is there are no Fire Exit Information. We had to remind every day on our 04 day stay for either towels not placed or bath mat or tea bags. On check-in you will find the Minibar empty. On questioning it was informed that it is only set on request. The bathrooms are very average bathtubs are only good for a shower (There is no separate shower cubicle).
The rooms need some serious makeover they are the chic rooms of 80's(Added feature of a Flat screen TV)
Internet is expensive, with speeds of bullock cart...Yes communication does lack in the staff, my Bungee ticket handed over to evening shift Front desk staff, took 20 minutes for the night shift staff to fine. It was right in front of him in the Guest message Pigeon hole{I had to ask him to check in the message pigeon hole (Working in Hotels I knew it should have been there)... Guess he was a Trainee..

On the other side the hotel has some great positives with food. It is amazing, be it the Coffee Shop or room service or Chinese restaurant. We loved the food and it was mind blowing.

Overall with the entire Nepal experience, it was just that our expectations with rooms were quite high, considering the hotel is branded as a 5 Star hotel. It is definitely a favorite with the local crowd, as most times the Coffee shop is packed with local Nepalese businessmen.

Room Tip: Do not mistake for room pictures on website!!!
