We actually had made a booking at an other hotel but at 10 pm we found out they were overbooked. Thankfully we were really good helped by the staff of Ambassador Garden. It's a lovely place to stay. We had a deluxe room and it was really big. Bathroom was also big, clean and with hot showers. The staff is friendly and came to say good morning every day. Breakfast is good. It really felt like an oases in this busy part of Kathmandu. And yes you need that! They have computers you can use in the lobby they work excellent. I really appreciated this because the wifi was not so good (something to improve).

I booked one night on my return to Kathmandu as after that going onto staying with friends locally. After a 10 hour bus journey back from Chitwan it was marvellous. Staff very friendly and welcomed with a drink. Although no lifts on third floor my bag was carried up by the staff. My room was lovely, clean and large well presented and bathroom appeared newly refurbished. Bed comfortable and so quiet yet in the middle of the Thamel. I was sorry to leave the next day and would certainly stay there again if I return to Nepal as I liked the querky feel of the place, central and also value for money.

Room Tip: The Delux room was fantastic

We were made very welcome at this hotel and the staff are so helpful and friendly. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. It had a small fridge, kettle and complimentary water every day. There are 4 floors to the hotel but no lift. The staircases aren't too high and staff assist with bags etc. It was quite cool in the evenings during our stay (February), each room has split hot/ cold air conditioners and our room warmed up quickly. Wi-Fi connection was a bit hit and miss depending on time of day & usage.
The hotel is in a great location in the heart of the Thamel tourist area but wasn't at all noisy. I loved the fact that this particular hotel has a unique family history and can cater to a mixture of tourists and business guests.

This is an old building, so don't expect too much.
Staff is nice and helpful.
Breakfast was great and they even refill if you are still hungry.
Mattress are ok. It's an inexpensive hotel and they deserve the rating they have. It's not in the main street, so it's quiet!
Can't complain for the price I paid...
Good night!

Affordable, clean, great location, lovely staff and nicely put together. We'd stay here again if/when we come back to Kathmandu. For us, that's about as good a recommendation as we can give. Highly recommend staying here.
