What a pleasure to find this hidden oasis of Comme Chez Soi in the middle of the popular Hippodrome neighborhood. Easy walking to popular restaurants, N’ice Cream, and a popular bars like Bla Bla Bar and Cotton Club and a few blocks to Mali Chic which has some tasteful artistic local items (without the haggle).

Since there are few tourists in Mali it was little surprise this hotel was lacking any review on TripAdvisor the past year. I worried it might be closed as many have closed. However, to my surprise and relief, this hotel is just as charming, active, and well-maintained as described in reviews over a year ago. Seems to be mostly of service to the NGO/expat guests as it was a shock that a tourist had arrived.

The boutique hotel has only five rooms, all on the ground level. We stayed in Room #1 which overlooks the pool and courtyard. This lush tropical courtyard is a relaxing oasis with chirping birds, happy lizards, and blooming flowers. The chilled pool water was just perfect after a hot day walking around Bamako.

The entrance is guarded inside and out with a pair of secured double entrance doors at all times.

The room is perfect for the weary traveler. Nicely lit and tastefully decorated with Malian art. The low-lying double bed was incredibly comfortable and provided an excellent night’s sleep on comfortable sheets (okay, the pillow was a bit flat, but that was no problem for my weary head). The mini-split air conditioning did a fantastic job of chilling the room. The additional standing oscillating fan provided an extra blissful breeze. Overhead is an optional mosquito netting that can be extended; but, fortunately, there were no mosquitos this time of year.

The attached bathroom had a stone tiled spa-like rain shower with hot water. While there is no shampoo provided, a local artisanal bar of soap was provided. It was such a pleasure to have found this gem of a boutique hotel room in the heart of Bamako, Maki.

Prior to our arrival, the front desk was very prompt to reply with emails and were able to arrange an airport taxi transfer to and from the airport for 8,000 FCFA one way. It’s great in Mali to have the driver meet you with a sign. While the hotel’s site has no online booking, I stumbled past it on Airbnb which allowed me to book online with a credit card.

The hotel’s restaurant upstairs was equally as pleasant. I’ll leave the review on the restaurant’s listing.

Breakfast is served for only hotel guests in this upstairs restaurant with an option of cooked-to-order eggs along with your choice of juices, coffees and tea. There were also delicious fresh sliced toasted breads with honey and jam.

Because the restaurant is closed at lunch, the front desk provided us three menu options for local restaurants that deliver. The front desk ordered and had our lunch delivered. We ate it upstairs in the restaurant’s covered rooftop patio. A nice option as we had just arrived after a very long journey.

The checkin and checkout times are very flexible based on occupancy. The staff maintain a sparkling clean property. They are constantly cleaning to ensure a beautiful well-maintained hotel. The landscaping around the pool was equally as maintained for a beautiful experience throughout. It was well polished hotel service at a boutique hotel experience.

I highly recommmend visiting Le Comme Chez Soi and giving Bamako a chance to impress!

I would return here without a doubt should I ever have the pleasure to return.

My favorite brunch dishes are the fish tacos and the huevos rancheros, along with any breakfast cocktail that is in season, The pork chops are my favorite dinner choice! I love this place! Love the ambiance, especially when there is live music!

Everything is perfect over there! Nice decorations, the food is just amazing. Is a great place for a brunch with nice crepe but also a relax and great place for a dinner with friends. I recommend the pizza, are the way I love! The staff are kind and polite and the owner makes you feel "comme chez soi".

The rooms are great, the staff is professional and very helpful, and the food and drinks are the best. The best for me is the setting of the place which, smack in the middle of Bamako, day or night is like a little slice of peaceful paradise.

This is a great place to stay and a great place to eat. It feels like an upscale boutique hotel! And yet has very reasonable prices. Great rooms with carefully chosen details (like really nice showers, beds and linens), cute little pool, and some of the best food in town. I don't know if there could be better value anywhere!
