I have visited this restaurant twice -- once for Sunday lunch with my 6 year old daughter and friends, and another time on a midweek evening with colleagues. On both occasions the food was good. I had chicken schnitzel and fries the first time and chicken risotto the second. While service is not speedy -- I cannot recall having experienced fast service at a sit down restaurant in 8 months in the country -- I do not have other complaints. The second time the manager even came over to the table to inquire about our meal and the service. I like the atmosphere of this restaurant - having dined both inside and out. I will return again and recommend it to visitors.

This place is viewed as the must go to place in Lilongwe. Like the emperors new clothes it’s screaming out for someone to say -it’s cr*p- well it is.
The so called ‘sommelier’ didn’t know her Chardonnay from her Sauvignon Blanc from her elbow. What types of wine do you have? Red or White. Christ we are paying for this insightful knowledge.
Food is bland, service is very, very poor. They have franchised this cr*p out to Lusaka and, apparently Addis.
Hopefully the good residents of these illustrious cities won’t be as easily fooled as Malawians

This place stands out in Lilongwe and i have not seen anything like it in Malawi. The decor, facilities and artwork were impressive. Except for the local staff and African decor I felt like we ventured into a Caribbean tourist resort. Especially considering the salsa music coming from the bar next door. The food was subpar. I had expected a lot more considering the venue. Although the staff was professional we didn't find them to be warm or friendly. Our group consisted of 8 guests from from Norway, Malawi and Brazil. I give this restaurant 4 out of 5 mainly because of the ambiance and atmosphere.

Hi Bjørnar S. Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review on your experience at Latitude 13's restaurant. So glad that you found the property "different" to anything else you've encountered in Malawi - and that you enjoyed the look of our property! The salsa nights are something that Management have just introduced, and we have a feeling that they will become very popular! We're not so glad that you didn't find the food or service up to expectation, and our apologies for this. It is a key offering in our business, and we take feedback on these areas very seriously. We will communicate your feedback to Management and ensure that on your next visit you find a great improvement.

Thanks again - and best wishes!

This elegant bar/restaurant/hotel is an aesthetic pleasure to enter. The place offers an exceptional and consistent African theme/decor and atmosphere and it is a pleasure to eat here. The food is tasty, but not exceptional compared to the prices. Service is friendly and impeccable. A good place to spend a pleasant evening.

Thank Coldings

We went to Latitude twice this week. The interior design is very interesting but there were severe issues with the wine menu and drinks prices. A shot of normal whiskey turned out to be USD 20, normal wine overpriced and so on. Not sure if this is an intentional rip-off or just an honest mistake in the menu.

At the first visit the food was bland. The second time we waited about 1.5 hours for our steaks. The meat was of very poor quality.

The management has lots of issues to resolve.

Dear chrisrod1,

First of all my apologies that you had so many issues during your visit to Latitude 13's restaurant; I would like to thank you for bringing to our attention the problems that you faced. I am happy to report, though disappointed that it was not picked up earlier, that the issues you found with the wine menu and drinks prices were an error, and these were corrected. It is never our intention to rip our guests off, as that would lead to them not returning, and we are proud to have such a good level of repeat custom - both at the restaurant as well as the hotel. We have ensured that Management are well aware of your feedback and are acting on it, and we hope that on your next visit to us you will experience Latitude 13 as we intend all of our guests to.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review.

Every best wish!
