AG Palace is a great value for money. I stayed at this hotel for several months. Having stayed at many hotels in Addis over a short period of time, this hotel quickly became my go to hotel. They rooms were good sized with a nice desk area and some even have two balconies. The staff were really helpful and friendly and the management was great. Nice breakfast buffet and food options. Of note, the hotel is off a side road which can be a little difficult to find at first.

Room tip: Rooms higher up have a nice balcony area, and corner rooms are larger with two balconies.

Not a great location - no roads (dirt tracks), signage or lighting so not easy to navigate. Need to arrange taxis to get anywhere
Rooms reasonable in size and cleanliness
Not the best nights sleep due to corridor and outdoor noises. The glass panel above your room door avoids any fears of the dark!
Intermittent Internet access
I would recommend staying downtown nearer the airport

I highly recommend this place. Because the rooms are clean and comfortable, near the airport convenient for transportation and also recommend for budget travelers. The staff and the manager is very friendly, a small but a wonderful restaurant, high speed WIFI a great view from the balcony.

Two challenges may put the intrepid traveller off from this understated, small but reasonably priced, clean and pleasant hotel- the access road off the main road, and the taxi driver struggling to find the location. The short access road is really a dirt track but will likely be tarred in the near future with two new highrise buildings close to completion. Have the hotel's telephone number ready for the driver to call to get directions. The hotel is situated in a local neighbourhood so expect to hear dogs barking, the call to prayer, but fortunately there is little traffic noise. My room on the 3rd floor was facing the entrance and had a great view. I liked the basic breakfast and even sampled a local dish on the menu (western options were available). Staff were very friendly and helpful. I was able to organise a day trip to Debre Libanos (100km and 6 hour excursion) for 2600 birre with the help of the reception staff which was much less than the advertised guided tours. (I was so glad to have done this exciting excursion to the monastery, museum, cave, Portugese bridge and waterfall). The major advantage of this hotel is its proximity to the airport (15 minutes drive; 350 birre), to the light train station (10 minutes walk) and to the mall and restaurant options (about 20 minutes). Internet access was good and there is a backup generator when the power goes out - happened only once in my 3 day stay! Would certainly consider staying here again for my next trip. Would be helpful though if the reception responds to fb queries.

Room tip: No lifts so avoid 4th or 5th floor unless you like the workout!

AG PALACE HOTEL - A lovely boutique hotel set in a developing area. The rooms have all essential amenities including a WiFi service and a balcony. AG Palace Hotel is within walking distance to eating places and shopping malls. It is also close to the City Centre and the ECA conference facilities. The place is easy to reach by taxi and quite close to the Tram station. If you want to see the natural Addis Ababa then the AG Palace Hotel is the place to be. The hotel rates are ideal for a business traveler who likes quiet and secure places. The staff are ever so caring and they indeed make you feel at home in Addis. The boutique gives choice and filling breakfast. My wife and I enjoyed our stay at the boutique. We liked the timely attention given to our requests

Room tip: All rooms are quieter with free WIFI access. All rooms have a balcony with great views.
