The Hotel continental seems to come out from a 50s movies. A wonderful balcony on the mediterranean see with a big space for breakfast. Rooms are very small but the hall, corridors, everywhere this old hotel preserve the old-style. Fascinating place, well located, hard to reach by car because of small streets in the Medina of Tangeri

Continental Hotel is located about 5 minutes walking from the Port and near by the Medina. It is located in one of the main arteries of the city that gets busy at night. For those that haven't been in Tangier, do not be afraid of the Hotel path to entrance. You might perceive the locals as a threat but they are ok. I was there by myself and I had no problems at all walking through them at nigh. Just forget the bias. The hotel is clean, the staff is helpful and the food serves at the restaurant is delicious. No elevator but it is not a problem for me. One of my complain is that they closed the restaurant pretty early. Another problem is that they allow people to smoke in the restaurant. That is a big thumb down for those of us that do not smoke. The staff doesn't care if you complain about it. They invite you to smoke, which was really odd for me. If the hotel is mostly for tourist then, you must accommodate as a facility as much as possible to the culture of the tourists. Another problem is the connection with wi-fi. You probably have to go outside the room to get some bar on your phone or laptop. Those are minor problem if you considered the advantages of the hotel, excellent location, free good breakfast, clean, nice view from the room's window (if you get balcony) nice terrace, helpful staff.

Room tip: Make sure you ask for AC not all rooms have AC

This is surely a love it or hate it hotel. When does faded grandeur just become shabby looking?
Great location in the medina. It clearly was a stunning hotel. The public areas are badly needing renovated, but the room was more than adequate. Little about the hotel is modern.
Personally I enjoy stepping back in time and visting this type of property, but equally it is not for everyone.

The location of the hotel is good; close to Tangier Ville and the Medina. Our room was reasonably comfortable and had some Wifi (albeit intermittently). The breakfast was ok; some lukewarm eggs and a range of breads/cereals. However, having stayed in 5 different hotels in Morocco in the last week, this was by far the worst. Most hotels provide coffee/tea, warm blankets in the cold evenings and have beautiful panoramic terraces. The Continental Hotel does not have any of this. Stay in Dar Jameel- we had one night there and instantly regretted switching!

The rooms are very tired and very smelly, could not resist the smell of burning wood all day long. Water switches to cold at Midnight, and if you leave your key at the reception at night sometimes it takes over 10 minutes to get it back as the receptionist will be seeping :) The area is a bit rough especially at night after 10PM. Would definitely not stay here again!

Room tip: Try at least to get a room with a balcony / sea view
