Stayed here for the third time in March, 14. The Caleche D'Or is a European style hotel rather than a riad and is furnished accordingly. Room was clean - as was the toilet/shower room - with plenty of storage space. A flat-screen TV with the satellite channels was mounted on the wall. Great location just across the road from the station, tram stop and taxis. Excellent value at 400dh (£30) per night - room only.

Not a bad little hotel for the price, rooms were cleaned daily, no stale cigarette smells that are typical of this price range... about 470 dh per night or 55$ CAD. The staff was friendly and helpful, plenty of nearby restaurants, one of the best tagine places around the corner (VIP restaurant) and an easy walk to the souk - also across from the central train station and tramway- very easy to hail a cab as well-

Negatives are- the visa machine was not working, there is one large flight of stairs to climb to the main reception, no air conditioning and no internet in the rooms although it is next to an internet cafe with free wifi which you can sit at for hours having mint tea!
If you get a mobile stick from maroc telecom internet can be purchased from many small kiosks for 10 dh/day ( roughly 1 $)

in summation I enjoyed my time spent here and would go again.

hint- even though it's not apparent, you can have coffee ordered to your room for free, although i would suggest a tip as they bring it to you always with a smile

Room tip: try for the first floor to avoid stairs- no elevator!

472 dirham for a cleanish room with bathroom. Was a little noisy but ok as long as you get a room away from the road. Well located opposite the train station. Double beds are small and not much bedding is provided. No real character. Noise in the corridors from other guests gets through easily into the room. Badly designed showers prone to flooding th bathroom. Felt it was rather expensive for what you get, don't know if Rabat has any cheap hotels but would advise checking out other options.

Room tip: If you don't like traffic noise, get one away from e road.

Having seen numerous budget hotels in five Moroccan cities, my wife and I were very pleasantly surprised to find this renovated, very clean gem. A nearby hotel was more than twice the price but it was dark and badly needing renovation. Caleche D'or is about 40-50 bucks a night. For that amount you get spotless white ceramic tiled floor, a wall mounted flat screen TV, clean bedding, clean bathroom, and funky odd black and orange drapes and bed spread. It is centrally located. Coming out of the train station hang a right, then immediately hang another right and you'll see the hotel on the left. Do not miss this hotel or Rabat, a charming city.
