After searching the web for days for accommodation in Marrakesh we finally chose the Dar Zarman and can’t praise this riad enough. From start to finish the service provided was second to none. Peter the riad owner arranged for a car to meet us at the airport, and Hassan & Ashraf took us from the car down the narrow streets to the riad, making it easy & safe.

Kabira the riads chef had prepared us with a traditional Moroccan dinner on arrival & I have to say this was simply fantastic. Breakfast is served every morning on the terrace or in the dinning room and consisted of the best freshly squeezed orange juice, yoghurts, pancakes, jams, honey and fruit.

Our room was decorated in a Moroccan style with a very comfortable bed and had excellent air conditioning.

Peter greeted us in the evening and shared a mint tea with us. Having spent a lot of time in Marrakesh he was able to provide us with tips for navigating around the medina and the souks.

The riad is about 15 minutes walk from the Djemaa el Fna square in the centre of the medina, but it's a very pleasant & interesting walk through the souks on the way there and back.

Riad Dar Zaman was simply prefect in every way and we could certainly not recommend it enough to anybody who wants a traditional experience with the home comforts.

We will be back.

I can't recommend this little hideaway enough. Fantastic riad, service and ambience. We ate in the riad one evening after a spa day and it was the best meal I have eaten in Morocco. Kabira the chef has cooked in Italy, Paris and Belgium which reflected in her style of cooking. I'm still dreaming about it! The 2 boys that worked there(Hassan and Ashraf) could not do enough to help, nothing was too much trouble. We even stayed in another evening to learn how to cook beef keftas in our newly bought tagine, which Ashraf sourced for us. Breakfast was slightly different each morning varying from fruit, pain au chocolat, pancakes, jams and breads. I have stayed in more expensive riads on previous trips but The Dar Zaman was far superior in quality and value. I will be returning again in the future.

Dar Zaman is a beautiful place tucked away in the middle of this hectic city. The rooms are very comfortable and the air conditioning a must in the summer heat. The staff are very welcoming and go out of their way to help. The food is fantastic and would recommend eating here in the evenings.

Peter called me a month bfeore we were supposed to arrive at the riad, to check we were still coming, which I thought was very good service until I realised I'd made our reservation a month too early! Peter was very understanding and only charged us once for the room, which was great.

He arranged for a car to meet us at the airport, and Hassan took us from the car down the narrow streets to the riad, which made our arrival very easy and stress free. We stayed in the La Baignoire room, which was simply decorated in a Moroccan style with beautiful accessories. It had very good air conditioning and the bed was very comfortable. Peter greeted us with mint tea and sat down to go through a map of the medina. He had great tips for navigating ourselves around the maze of the medina without getting lost and who to ask if we got lost in the souks and how much to pay them. He recommended some nice little cafes and restaurants close to the riad and a great hammam. The breakfast was lovely - toast, yoghurts, pancakes, jams, honey and freshly squeezed orange juice every morning on the terrace or in the dining room. The riad also offers evening meals if you give advance notice so they can buy ingredients, although we didn't do this.

The riad is down a few little back streets, but we never felt threatened or unsafe as you might in other countries. It took about 15 minutes maximum to get to the Djemaa el Fna square in the centre of the medina, but it's a very pleasant walk through the souks on the way there and back.

We travelled around Morocco for 2 weeks after our stay in Marrakech and I can honestly say that this was the best riad we stayed in, in terms of value for money, location, cleanliness and staff. We had already booked our last 2 nights in Marrakech at a riad that cost twice as much as Dar Zaman as a final holiday treat but I found myself a bit sad that we weren't returning to the lovely staff at Dar Zaman, which easily equalled our more expensive riad in every respect, and bettered it in some!
