My wife and I had the most horrendous experience of our lives thanks to Riad Shama. We made a booking at this riad in Dec 2017. The hotel is located in a terrible, convoluted and impossible to find area. When we finally found the place, the manager could not find our booking. I showed him the confirmation email and he was confused so he called his boss. After a 5 min conversation in french (which we did not understand) he said that they did not have any booking under our names and that the riad was full for the night and asked us to leave. As you can imagine at 10 pm where all the alleyways are dark and filled with shady characters, we were not happy to hear this. We went back and forth for a while; he was getting pretty aggressive and kept repeating the same few words over and over adding that he did not speak English when we tried to reason with him (even though he was speaking to us fine in English earlier). We asked to at least use the phone at the riad to call Hotels.com to help make alternative arrangements. But this deplorable and atrocious person said no and continued to aggressively push us out the door. We left. A bunch of kids followed us and kept offering to show us other riads which we refused at first but finally agreed as we didn't have much choice at that point. There was a real chance we were going to get robbed, beat up or worse but thankfully that didn't happen. After 30 minutes of walking and 100 turns in small poorly lit streets, the 4th riad agreed to take us in for night for 3x their normal rates. We agreed and decided to give the kids 300Dh (30€) for helping us. Unsurprisingly, they got angry and wanted more which I refused. Riad Shama is solely responsible for this fiasco for first losing our reservation and then having zero sense of human decency and compassion to not kick out newly arriving tourists at 10 pm without helping amend their own screw up. The next day we found that Riad Shama had the gall to charge our credit card for the night too! Can you believe this ridiculous place? I got the money back from Hotels.com after they called them 3x with no answer.

Bottom line, you most certainly should not stay here. The location is terrible, the service is worse. It's not worth the risk of ruining your vacation or much much worse. These idiots should not in business.

Room Tip: Under no circumstances should you stay at this terrible riad

Warm welcome by Majid, who along with all other staff were friendly and hospitable throughout our stay. Rooms are lovely, with comfortable beds. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay with plans to return in the future. Thank you to all at the Riad Shama.

My friend and I fell in love with this Riad. Upon arrival we received the warmest welcome and were served fresh mint tea by the pool. We were lucky to find our room had been upgraded so we each had our own room with a bathroom each, separated by a connecting door. The rooms were very clean, cosy and thoughtfully decorated. The shower head in my bathroom didn't have a hook to hang on, and the shower took a while to drain, but it wasn't a big deal. The staff were exceptionally lovely. The Riad is located slightly away from the tourist areas. But it's only about a 15 minute walk to the main market. My only regret is not going for a swim!

I Read reviews mentioning the poor area after booking.Didn't think much off it.

Mugged inside the hotel, No useful support by management. Manager suggested we pay the mugger. no security, left immediately, no refund offered by manager or booking.com executive

We had the most relaxing stay in this Riad. Although is situated in the Medina of Marrakesh it is very quiet. The best thing about this place is the roof top terrace - the view is amazing.
The rooms are clean and have AC. The service is excellent and the food (especially the traditional breakfast) is delicious.
