We were a little hesitant about staying a riad as previous trips to Morocco years ago had been in the relative “safety” of a hotel, and on this trip we were going with 5 teenagers. The taxi dropped us off late and the area was busy, but our fears disappeared as Aida was there to meet us and show us the way to the riad. The streets leading to it seem a little confusing at first but we soon found our way around. From the outside of the riad you have no idea how beautiful it is inside. When we first arrived the candles around the pool were lit and we were offered Moroccan mint tea and biscuits. It was magical. The great hospitality continued all week with an amazing variety of breakfast dishes including omelettes made to order as we arrived for breakfast, pancakes, pastries, sausages etc and always bread, jams, yoghurt, fresh fruit salad, fresh orange, coffee and tea. We felt guilty that we could never eat it all. On our first morning Aida took us for a walk to the Jemaa el Fna and through the souks so that we could get our bearings, and throughout the week she was in the riad along with Latifa until lunchtime, when they finished cleaning the riad and clearing breakfast. Aida was invaluable in helping us to book taxis and giving advice about prices and customs and trying to teach us some Arabic. Most of the time we attempted to use our French while in the city but Aida speaks very good English. She gave us a contact number incase we needed her and we felt very well looked after.
We had expected a certain amount of hassle in the souks and were prepared for the various hard sell techniques , despite this we did get caught up in a carpet selling/ guided tour of the tanneries (by accident ) but accepted it as part of the experience and came away with some quite nice slippers. Overall the experience was amazing- everywhere you look there is something you would love to photograph and the massive contrast between the souks and the ville nouvelle is incredible. I would definitely return to the riad without any hesitation- the accommodation was clean and spacious and the staff were brilliant. An oasis of calm in a busy city.
This is a great riad. Once you know your way through the medina, it is not an excessive distance to the main square.
I must admit when we went to book Marrakech it was with some trepidation - being used to booking family holidays around the pool or at the beach this sort of holiday was very much of our radar - but my we are so glad we did.
Form the minute we booked to minute we departed we felt extremely well looked after - communication with both Cristiana and the Riads caretaker Miriem was first class.
Miriem helped us book events for all four days - trips to the atlas mountains, guided tours of the Souks (which I would recommend!!) , camel rides, meals at Jasper Conrans RIad and of course serving us a superb Morrocan meal one evening.
Breakfast was prepared by Miriem each morning with something different every time and set us up for the mornings events.
The riad itself is an oasis of calm, away from the hustle of the medina you open the door to a very welcome plunge pool which provided much relief from the mid afternoon heat walking the souks.
The rooms are fantastic and comfortable and AC is much welcome and the top seating area is a wonderful place to site and relax.
The medina is a very busy place - thankfully we had a driver for the 4 days who was able to negotiate the roads for our transfers from and to the airport and to the various events we did.
I would highly recommend this Riad
This riad is situated about 10 mins walk from the souks and 20 from Jemaa el Fna on Bab Tagzout. It's perfectly placed for getting out & seeing everything that Marrakech has to offer on foot.
The riad itself was more than ample for the family of 5 that we took, and could comfortably take more. It was beautiful, clean and well appointed. Meriem provided a great service and made our stay care free.
I'd fully recommend staying here to anyone who fancies being in the centre of the hustle and bustle, but wants peace and seclusion when they close their front door.
Very clean and well maintained property in the middle of Marrakech. The Riad was perfect for our family of Mum and Dad and 3 x 20 something year olds and their partners. We loved coming home in the afternoons and sitting around the pool to cool off. Another highlight was having organised with Cristina to have dinner in the Riad. For a reasonable fee dinner was organised and set up on the rooftop. They cooked, served and cleaned up.
Cristina was very good to deal with and communication was excellent. I would highly recommend this beautiful Riad.
