I have a mixed opinion about Riad Tayba. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, especially Leila. They organise pick up from the train station, they cook dinner on demand and they can provide a guide for the day. The building is the classic riad, beautiful buildings often tucked in silent side streets in the medina of moroccan cities. Unassuming from outside, they are usually stunning inside, with a refreshing inner courtyard and tasteful decorations. Riad Tayba in this league. However, the rooms are very small and the one where I was had a terrible smell of sewage. It was barely acceptable. A little use of deodorant might have helped a lot and I am surprised that the staff never thought of this. Most rooms face the outside small street rather than the courtyard, and, being the riad nearly at the end of a cul-de-sac, the nights are very quiet and silent, with the exception of the odd cats fight (they can be very, very loud!). The position in the city is very good, very close to one of the main thoroughfares of Fes and to the "Blue gate" but off the beaten path. One can quickly learn how to get back home at night!
