Even if i am not a christian, i love this church especially its architecture. they organize events, expositions there as you don't have a lot of christians that come pray.

This beautiful cathedral has not been used for religious purposes for many a year. It's in an area that I used to visit often as it is right by the Arab League Park and near some nice cafes in the "tree tunnel" street bisecting the Park.

I saw the reviews saying that it was boarded up and went to have a look and chatted to someone who said they were in charge.

The building was used as an exhibition centre for some years, but even that function fell out of use a couple of years ago and the inside deteriorated. The whole structure is now being renovated and repaired as part of the extensive remodelling of the Park itself. This will involve also repainting and sprucing up the outside.

I was lucky to be able to get into the grounds to access someone, but in general, the edifice is enclosed while the works are being done. However, the impressive exterior is still there and well worth looking at.

Unfortunately no one knows what it will become after the works are finished. It doesn't matter to me, the important thing is that this heritage is preserved.

Sadly the cathedral is closed. It is under renovation and can't get inside. One might be surprised to see a Catholic church in a Muslim nation, but there are over 100,000 Catholics in the country. It is a carry forward from the days of the French. The grounds are torn up because of the renovation, but if you walk the side of the building, there will be an opening in the fence. You can walk onto the grounds but not much to see. Do be careful as homeless do live on the grounds and also use it as a toilet.

Dirty. Empty. Lacking distinct style. Something to add? After two weeks I had trouble recalling architecture details. Let's go with "forgettable", then...

It has a fence around it. No signage explaining why. It's outside construction is beautiful, would have loved to examine the inside. But from the reviews it stripped.
