I agree with Garybirder. Sad and in need of an upgrade. I had a front room, noisy because it was on the road and they are building a strip mall across from the hotel which may help it but construction noise started early in the am and carried on even on Sunday morning. Bed had no mattress cover and the bottom sheet did not reach the end of the bed. I asked a mattress cover several times at the desk and I was told they did not have any and would put on a extra sheet. Didn't happen. The 3rd day, there was a mattress cover put on. In the meantime, there was a power outage in the area which meant no internet on that floor for the rest of my stay as the router was not reset and no ice as the machine had shorted. In short, depressing and cleanliness a bit dodgy. No water pressure in the shower and no hair dryer. Refrigerator in the kitchenette but unplugged as was the phone. You have to use your room key for power. Not going back even in a pinch.

Well, the fellow at the front desk was very helpful, so that's a positive. Among the negatives: sheets were not properly made; could not call the front desk to ask for more sheets because the phones did not work (but they did have sheets available right away went I went to get them in person); the cushions on the pull-out bed / couch were broken; there was almost no hot water; the curtains are flimsy and our room faced the street so it was bright and noisy all night long; the bedside lamp (not the bulb, the lamp itself) was broken. The WiFi worked OK and the mini-frig (turned off when we arrived) was a nice touch. As noted in another review, this was previously called Copantl Suites and they still use keys and key holders with that name.

Room Tip: avoid rooms facing the bright and noisy street

As a recent guest at the Hotel Suites El Picacho, I was very pleased by the excellent customer service I received. This hotel offers a fair price, great quality, awesome staff, safe and peaceful location, and is only minutes away from downtown. Probably one of the best-kept secrets in the capital region! Both the day and evening staff are uber-attentive and professional. Absolutely no complaints here!

The accommodations are very clean, and the location is safe. The views are easily among the most beautiful in the area, which is peaceful and quiet. The previous poster (wannawander) states that she had some issues, but I find her comments inaccurate: there *IS* a pool at the hotel; I had absolutely no problems with the water pressure in my room; and, no moldy furniture or noisy AC.

In conclusion, I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Tegucigalpa area.

This used to be called Hotel Copantl. I stayed here for a week while on business in Tegucigalpa Honduras. Frankly that's the only reason I come here. This was supposed to be a 2 night stay, but stuff happens. My associate made the reservation and as he is a local, I trust him.

The hotel is located up a bit in the hills. It really has no amenities to speak of...no pool, no fitness room. But as I am by myself and rather used to being alone in a hotel, this offered a clean, secure reasonably priced option to the pricey hotels downtown. I would not recommend this for a family if you are looking for things to keep the kids busy. There is nothing to do.
The rooms are suites with a comfortable bed, a small but well appointment kitchenette with a bar and 2 stools, bathroom with a shower, sink outside the bathroom, an armoir and workdesk. Shower water pressure was a bit weak, but fine. There is a safe in the armoir, but I couldnt get it to work. I dont travel with anything of real value and always have my money with me. Half of the room was the living area witha sofa (turns into a bed) a chair, coffee table and TV WITH CABLE.

Other than the sofa, the room was very clean. The sofa could have used a deep cleaning or replacement but it was ok. I'm picky. Once in a while, I'd get a stale smell from it. It wasn't "disgusting". There was a fresh bottle of water each day and a water cooler in the lobby. Although I did drink the tap water and had no issues. I come to Honduras often, so I might just be used to it, but I've never had any problems.

I found plenty of outlets for chargers and electronics. WiFi was reliable. And I had no issues with theft even when I left some electronics out. AC was a little noisy, but worked well. I only used it at night.

Breakfast is included (for 2). The meals are simple but good. Try the breakfast baleada. As always in Honduras, the coffee is great! I don't leave the hotel ever on my own. It simply is not safe. Nowhere in Tegucigalpa is really safe for a foreign woman to walk on her own...except INSIDE THE MALL. Evening meals are the same menu as breakfast. Mostly egg based, but they have a ham and cheese sandwich. I ordered dinner one night from a service that offers delivery from several restaurants around. It's a little pricey, and it was Friday night, rainy...took 1.5 hours. But might be better another time. The food was passable.. My rec is that you stop at a grocery store and get some things you can heat up.
I would stay here again, for the price. Around $50.00/nite (L1001).

Room Tip: Rooms on the back are probably quieter. Mine faced the fron and with windows open, was noisy with traffic, dogs, etc.
