We decided to go to Honduras for a 2nd year in a row. We stayed at the Palma Real during our first trip. We discovered La Delphina during our first stay and totally enjoyed a few afternoons there.

So this year we decided to stay at La Delphina. We were there for the first in January 2018. It was fantastic. They have two new VIP rooms on the upper level that are immediately overlooking the beach. The rooms are beautiful, large, clean and the balcony is only a few feet from the ocean.

The food was fantastic. We experienced great appetizers on our first visit, but this time we managed to try several items on the menu. The shrimp soup was a favorite along with the calamari, tasty chcken wings.and the cooks always made us a little plate of french fries for a bed time snack.

Service was excellent. And the cocktails and beer were heavenly...

The owner Richard, well he is one of a kind. a great enthusiastic happy guy willing to help out with anything. Please note, you are only allowed one hug from Richard. LOL.

His staff are excellent and although they did not know much English, they were fun to be around and always smiling and laughing.

The facility is excellent. very unique, quaint, with a great pool, character bar, and the decks overlooking the ocean are amazing.

Thanks Richard. See you next time in 2018

The trip started out bad. For some reason I could not make a telephone connection with the hotel. Calls were disconnected or went straight to voicemail. After arriving at bus terminal there were a few taxis outside waiting. After choosing one we went to the hotel which seemed a long way. The road was rough and muddy, no type of street lighting (but that is the fault of the city).
We make it to the hotel and after being admitted the nightmare turns into a beautiful dream. Richard the owner, was very apologetic for the inconvenience that we went through. The meals were humble but very well prepared, the hotel's servants was very friendly, the rooms were clean and comfortable. When it was time for us to leave my wife wanted to stay longer. She loved it.

We had a very pleasant stay at The Delphina. The atmosphere was very relaxing and hospitable and we felt very welcome, safe and comfortable during our stay. We loved the location right on the beach/seashore.
Owner Richard (American) really takes good care of his guests and is very helpful with any questions you may have. He also helped us planning some daytrips and works together with a very reliable taxidriver to take you wherever you want to go.
The food was great. A lot of variety (local and American style), great taste, good portions and well prepared.
Our room was airconditioned, modern, perfectly cleaned every day and even had a bath with an oceanview!
We spent many an hour sitting in a rockingchair on one of the wooden terraces hearing the sea and watching the pelicans fly by with a nice cold drink at hand. Very lovely!

Due to airline delays, we arrived after the kitchen was closed. Nevertheless, the owner, Richard, and his chef, Mia, came to our rescue. Mia re-opened the kitchen and made us delicious hamburgers. That’s the way our week at La Delphina went. We were taken care of – all we needed to do was ask.
The hotel is located 20 minutes east of La Ceiba in the very safe little village of Granadita. It is right on the beach and the water is wonderful. If you are an independent traveler who is looking for a place to quietly relax, La Delphina is perfect. If you want late night partying, La Delphina is not. That is not to say that there is nothing to do. They will arrange trips to Cayos Cochinos or, white-water rafting, or hot springs or zip lines, bird-watching, scuba diving, etc.
The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean. The hotel is small and the furnishings are basic, but we had a wonderful time and are planning to go back next Spring.
I have stayed in small hotels all over the Caribbean over the last 33 years and I have never found a nicer, small beachfront hotel, anywhere for the price that La Delphina charges.

Room was clean and comfortable. We were even upgraded. The place was empty other then ourselves and one other person. We arrived late and hungry. It was difficult communicating with the waitress, she only spoke spanish, but we managed, without the help of the owner... who was sitting nearby and spoke english and spanish and who knew we didn't speak spanish. The food was good but we waited an 1 1/2 hours before being able to eat. If we could have been able to communicate with the staff things probably would have been better. So... nice place but I suggest knowing spanish...
