Personally I am not very much into museums but this one was really interesting. It is quite small but have many important and beautiful valuables, ceramics and masks form Maya period. We visited late in the evening and it was great. Try to visit the day before going to Copan ruins.
This museum contains many nice pieces from Copan Ruinas, along with descriptions in English and Spanish. I loved the skulls with jade inlays in the teeth! At only $3 per person, the admission is very reasonable.
A very good addition to the Archeological Park experience; expanding the knowledge. It was well presented and very interesting.
A manageable museum with high quality artifacts. Has the good sense of being open only in the afternoon until quite late at night (21.00 hrs)
Valuables, ceramics, jade, lances, masks all that the Mayan kings used and their offerings when buried. All in a space at the same price with the visit of the archaeological park of Copan.
This is a good way to start your visit to Copan. Visiting the museum in the heart of the city gives you an idea of what to expect when visiting Copan Ruinas. We arrived in the afternoon so we first visited this museum then went to the ruins in the morning. The museum also sells a ticket package so you'll be ready to start your tours straight away in the morning.
