Hotel offers all the basics needed for a comfortable stay. Rooms are simply but comfortably furnished. There is secure parking if you are driving your own car. The wi-fi is excellent. It is less than a two minute walk from the town square. It does not have a restaurant but there are at least a dozen within very short walking distance. The hot water really does not exist but I have found that to be the case with most hotels in Central America. Special weekly rates can be arranged.

Taking safety measures
Our reservation with another hotel did not work. It was good Friday and rooms were hard to find but this had a room with a double bed ensuite bath with hot shower and loo that would only flush if you took the top of the cistern off. The room was clean but cell like. It was on the ground floor and opened into a corridor where the only window was located. It was noisy. Wifi worked well. TV had poor reception. The air con did not work but the fan did. Main Square 2 blocks away.
Staff quite helpful but we're keen to get payment as soon as we checked in.
The main good things about this hotel are:
- It is inexpensive, even more so if you're staying more than 2 nights (make sure to let them know if you'll be staying there for a while so that they can give you a lower price).
- Staff are accommodating.
- Rooms are clean.
- Roof area is nice, equipped with hammocks and a stove that you can use if you have all the necessary utensils.
- Laundry service for a reasonable price ( $3 per kilo).
- Free shuttle service from and to the bus station.
The main bad things about it are:
- Power outages are frequent in this village and if one occurs, they will not always turn the generator on unless you ask them and the air conditioning does not work with it. Because of this the rooms can get really hot.
- Shower heater did not work so we had to use another room's bathroom and even then the water was not hot, only lukewarm.
- Most of the rooms are lacking windows, so there is no natural light and they can get stuffy.
- Rooms are pretty small and can be uncomfortable for more than one person.
In general it was nice but it felt like we were at a budget hotel.
I loved staying here. The deskman (Delvin) was a delight. Whenever I asked for directions to someplace (restaurant, bank, pharmacy, etc) he not only told me where it was, showed me on the map, but also offered the maid to take me there to be sure that I didn't get lost.
The room was clean, service good, and convenient. Not the greatest hotel I've stayed in, but certainly well worth the price they charge.
This hotel is fantastic value for money - the staff are cheerful and friendly, the rooms are clean and cosy, the showers nice and warm, the toilets spotless, the aircon is quiet and works well, and there is a great roof terrace to look out over the countryside, and laze around in comfy cotton hammocks. Although it is centrally located, it is quiet and calm.
The best rooms are 25 and 26 - they have windows opening onto a small balcony overlooking the street. Though if you are sensitive to noise one of the rooms set back from the road might be better.
The location is great - just a short walk from the main square (about 200 yards) and all the bars, restaurants and nightlife - and next door is a bar the locals use - cheap beer and very very friendly! There is cold purified water and hot coffee available from midday onwards, but no food was available when we visited.
When there are power cuts there is a generator which soon sorts out the problem.
Wifi is good everywhere in the building, and there is a PC in the reception area for visitors to use as well.
for breakfast there are plenty of places just a couple of minutes away - our favourite is the Casa de Todo - a little further, about 7 minutes away - great coffee, and very healthy breakfasts (try the ham and egg burrito) If you want to be sinful, you can have coffee and cakes at cafe Welchez just 2 mins away on the corner of the town square just as you enter it - so it isnt a problem that they dont serve breakfasts!
for evening meals there are loads of options in town - picame was good, and so was Lola's
It's central america so I make allowances but:
● if you can avoid it - do not take the rooms overlooking the street. The tuks tuks on cobblestones sound like freight trains and I think monday night is drunken karaoke night at the catina.
● The only thing that helped drown the sounds out was the air conditioner which sounded like a helicopter. I got used to it but you may not. Test the sound of the ac in your room and negotiate the price down or get another room if you can.
● also i agree staff couldn't or don't want to get into trying to answer your questions when you're using spanish (with a dictionary) and charades. They don't even try to respond.
Was alright enough otherwise but overpriced for what you get. My experience (double room) was it's better than a hostel but slightly below an average budget central american hotel.. but they try it on with the price.
