The views and the hotel is great. The rooms are clean however I really wanted soap in the shower and more towels. The food at the restaurant was delicious and the staff were super friendly; we plan to visit next year too.

I loved staying at Hotel Bambu because the staff were super friendly. Our dinner was very good and our breakdast was stellar. The rooms were good and clean however I wanted soap in the shower and hand soap, otherwise the hotel was great and location was on point.

This is an absolutely fantastic hotel and I would happily recommend it to anyone. The grounds are stunning and you'll find yourself just walking around pinching yourself that you're staying in such a beautiful place.

The staff are so friendly and eager to help with your every need. The pool area is lovely and we made full use of the pool, jacuzzi and sauna. We particularly enjoyed taking the kayaks around the lake. It was so peaceful to lazily paddle around and watch the fishermen and take in the sights.

The restaurant was also excellent. It's not the place to come for a quick meal but the food was top notch and the views over the lake are world-class.

The hotel is located just outside of Santiago and is an easy and cheap Tuk-Tuk ride. The staff are happy to call one for you. Arriving by boat just tell the captain that you're staying here and for a few extra quetzales he will take you right to the dock.

The only thing keeping this from being a 5-star review are the beds, which are actually too hard to describe. Hopefully the management can address this soon and this place will easily be the best place to stay in the Lake Atitlán area.

Highly recommended and I will be returning soon.

Room Tip: Try to get the bungalows closest to the lake

This is a beautiful property with lovely gardens. The room is good size. The beds were a bit hard but the owner is getting pads for the mattresses which should deal with this. Food was very good. It has an amazing view of the Lake. It is a bit out of town but there are Tuktuks available to get to town.
The Best thing was the staff. They were pleasant and accommodating and overall made the visit a real pleasure.

Room Tip: You can ask for a room closer to the lake for a view.

I'm writing this review sitting on the patio of our cottage overlooking the gardens and the afternoon sun on the lake. Nice breezes, it doesnt get better than this.
We are in Room 2, a family cottage with sleeping for five even though there is only the two of us. However this was all that was available when we booked and we are loving the space.
We arrived by public ferry from Panajachel which is a 30 min trip and cost us Q35 each. On arrival here at the dock we were immediately approached by a Inguat guide who tried to get us to pay Q150 for a tuktuk to the hotel. Our protests saw the price drop to Q40 for a 10 minute ride. The price recommended by the hotel is Q5 each for a tuktuk so dont pay more then this.
The property is hidden by gardens with a lovely winding path to the reception and restaurant. Keen gardeners will love casing the joint to look at what has been planted. There are alot of succulents and the biggest money plants we have ever seen. There is a gorgeous pool and hot tub and sauna for use plus kayaks down on the dock.
There are tours available if you feel active, but we have been happy to chill out on our patio after a stroll into the town.
Buildings have thatched roofs, terracotta floors with stone and plastered facades which all blend into the established gardens. There is no heating, fans or aircon here but the weather is pretty comfortable at the moment. Toiletries are minimal, shampoo and body wash only and no plug in the basin for wer shaving. Bathroom has plenty of hot water and pressure is o.k., the shower nozzle is set pretty high over the cubicle. The beds are a brickbat: they are rock hard. We are used to hard beds in SE Asia but these are super hard. You may not want to linger in the morning for the sake of your back!
Food and drinks in the restaurant are good, some of the best we have had so far in a country with a huge bias to pizza, pasta, burgers and sandwiches. Lots of standard stuff on offer but nicely done. Service is friendly but pitifully slow. Go to the restaurant and order when you think you may be hungry because you will be by the time the food arrives. Even when we were the only people there its all happening in slow motion. Not sure how they would cope if the place was full.
If you want a break from the hustle and bustle of Panajachel and Antigua in peaceful gardens by the lake this is the place for you. We have enjoyed our time here which will be three nights in total and will be sad to leave. Little Manola will be out on the patio grooming herself and looking for tidbits at breakfast.

Room Tip: If you want space go for the family cottages, Rooms 1 and 2
