We are regulars here. You must try the Mexican soup, the ribs, and the plantains mole. The menu changes daily, but if you are looking for something in particular, give Israel a call ahead of time. Everything is made to order but some things need to marinate or cook for hours, so you may have to ask what days he offers them. Israel is an entertaining and very friendly guy who spent his younger years as a cruise ship chef.

Ohhhhh, do not miss this gem. Israel was a fantastic chef in a high end hotel before he opened this, his own restaurant. It's in a funky but up and coming part of Pana. Its unassuming from the outside, but inside, he and his wife fan fold napkins in glasses on all the table clothed tables, and he greets you in his chef's jacket and offers you lime water in a bowl to rinse your fingers. I've eaten here twice, and each time it was the best meal I could remember in Guatemala. First time I had a Mexican soup and a shrimp dish with veggies and rice... off he charts good. Second time, I showed up early, before 11, with a vegetarian date, and he said "How about eggplant?" We said sure, and he whipped up coffee while we waited 15 mins for what was the most wonderful, lightest, most exquisite eggplant parmigiana I have ever had. Thank you Israel!

I've been to this nice little restaurant twice now, and both times I've been more than satisfied with the food and service here. The chef and owner, Israel, used to be a chef at a fancy hotel restaurant (in The City I think). He's clearly learned from mexican chefs how to mix spices and create sauces that have lots of flavor. Lots more than anything else I've had around here. Furthermore, the beef I had was very tender and high quality. I really like this place. I like it well enough to walk all the way from Satender, up to Calle El Amate, across the river, and then some. (you can also take a tuktuk). It's worth it! Especially, if you just want to get away from the tourist scene and experience some local ambiance with flavorful food.

A lovely family restaurant with delicious food at reasonable prices. We had chicken and pork dishes with rice and veggies which were perfect. If you wanted something vegan or vegetarian the owner/head chef was happy to prepare it. Nice atmosphere and quite quiet on a weekday evening. Wine Q150 a bottle or bring your own and they charge a small fee for opening/glasses. Would recommend!
