It was really an excellent experience!!
Adventure, a lot of archeological stuff, climbing, swimming, walking, trough the cave. We enjoyed it very very much.
Also we saw a corol snake.

It is situated on top of the hill in San Ignacio and has a beautiful view overlooking the town. We stayed two nights at the end of August in the free standing cottage right by the pool. I felt that room was clean and comfortable with ice cold air conditioner. Our experience was probably enhanced by the fact we stayed day before by the Zoo, which had no AC... It has a balcony with net to keep the insects away. It is a good location to enjoy the activities and relax afterwards by the sparkling pools and drinks. I gave extra point for the friendly folks, especially, Sara at the bar by the pool.
We booked here for a few nights to explore Xunantunich and Caracol from. Originally we had booked a cabana, but they did not come with hot water. Hence we ended up in a renovated room, which was quite comfortable, with a good sized bed. The bathroom did look like it could do with an upgrade too, but everything worked and there was warm water While we thought the hotel as such was quite average, it was the staff which made our stay worthwhile. From the people at breakfast, to the receptionist, everyone was super helpful and friendly.
Good service and beautiful views. Our cabana did seem to accumulate quite a bit of lizard poop which wasn't fun to avoid. Additionally, the AC was not positioned in a way to cool the bed. The pool, restaurant, and bar were all excellent.
This was by far the easiest family vacation I have ever planned, because Lenny at Cahal Pech took care of everything. I came across the resort's website when researching for a trip to Belize, sent a message to their generic email address, and received a quick response from Lenny with a proposed itinerary for a Jungle and Sea Adventure Package that included everything we wanted to do....a day trip to Tikal in Guatemala, a trek through ATM Cave, cave tubing, snorkeling, and beach time. We emailed back and forth a few times to fine-tune the plans, and that was it. I booked the flights and Lenny handled EVERYTHING else (transportation, accommodations at Cahal Pech and on Caye Caulker, and all of our tours). It was a well-oiled machine without a single glitch. I still can't believe how effortless it was.
As for the resort itself, we loved every minute we spent there. Every single member of the staff was happy, welcoming, and helpful. The food and drinks were wonderful, as were the servers and bartenders. We stayed in a two-story family cabana that was a little dated but clean and had plenty of room (two full bathrooms was a definite plus for our family of five). The view from the screened-in porch was lovely, especially at sunset. We were actually disappointed when it was time to leave for Caye Caulker for the beach portion of the trip. Of course, we enjoyed that too, but we can't wait to go back to Cahal Pech.
We stayed for 3 nights and the people there were very nice. My only negative was that our cabana was right next to the building and pool. It was a little loud. But we would definitely recommend. The restaurant was awesome! We ate so much good food.
