When my husband and I travel, we avoid fancy resorts, but we also don't like to rough it (we did that in our 20's and 30's). We enjoy the locals, the local cuisine, and the natural wonders. We are not party animals. If you are of similar mind, than read on. LOCATION: this hotel is south of just about everything. Therefore, it is quiet at night. You can easily walk into town, but after a long day on the water, the free bikes are a wonderful way to quickly get to a restaurant or a grocery store. ROOMS: Four of the rooms are waterfront, just steps away from the amazing dock. Many reviewers have said that the island breeze makes air conditioning unnecessary. This side of the island is breezy/windy which is wonderful and really helps to keep mosquitoes off of you. However, that breeze diminishes as you leave the waterfront (remember there are only 4 waterfront units). During the rainy season, you often have to close the windows, leaving you with no breeze at night. Finally, the humidity is very high. All of that said, if you are at all concerned about sleeping comfort, go with one of the waterfront units that has air conditioning in the bedroom. Perfect! KITCHEN: The kitchen had everything we could think of (except napkins). They provide kitchen linens, utensils, dishwashing liquid, pots, pans, plates, cups, coffee maker, coffee grinder, toaster, measuring cups...you name it! There is a store quite close. Eggs are 4 for 50 cents US and a loaf of wonderful bread was $1 US. Talk about saving money!! PROVIDED: Again, they try to think of everything! Coffee beans, shampoo, soap, liquid hand soap, games, books, WiFi, bikes, kayaks, snorkeling gear, floats, fans, clothesline and clothespins. Outside the office is a shelf with stuff you can use for free - suntan lotion, bug spray, even a bottle of rum. STAFF: Juan and his wife are lovely and welcoming people. You could not ask for better people. Juan has started a small reef under the pier. He has been very successful in attracting many fish, and not just snappers. We are divers, so we know our fish, and we were surprised with how many different fish were under the pier. One night we even saw a barracuda and another we saw a ray hanging around. Please, please, please, respect this little reef! By all means, snorkel! But please, don't touch! Please don't fish - these are small fish! Juan has started something beautiful here, please help him maintain it. The light housekeeping is wonderful (I forget her name, I'm so sorry!) and the very friendly Antonio keeps a watchful eye over the place at night. PACKING: the only thing not provided by the Cabanas is a beach towel, so remember to pack one! We hope to return to Belize one day, and we will DEFINITELY stay at Colinda Cabanas again. We highly recommend this place! Happy travels.

We had an absolutely amazing stay at Caye Caulker, and Colinda Cabanas was a big part of our experience. We stayed in the top level beach front cabana, and couldn't have asked for more. The scenic location, with comfortable hammocks and chairs on the dock, along with comfortable furniture on our porch, was perfect. Owner Colin, along with manager Juan and his team were very personable, and very responsive. Bikes that come with the cabana, along with scuba gear/kayaks were an added bonus. Inside the cabana was great, comfortable, with a nice kitchen/drinking water all we could have asked for. We will be back to Colinda Cabanas. Thank you!

Where to start?!! You couldn't get more for your money than these neatly quaint cabanas tucked away from all the noise of Caye Caulker. They only have a few so book as soon as you plan your trip.
The peacefulness is a big plus when you get back from activities on the island and you just want to sleep and relax.
But you can still jump on a bike just minutes away from all the restaurants, bars and activities on the island. (Did I mention they provide the bikes for free)
The grounds are kept clean and litter free compared to other places we walked by
The owner Colin took great care of us, giving us all kinds of information for the best food and activities on the island. He also upgraded our cabana b/c of a last minute cancellation for free so we could be even closer to the gorgeous view of the Caribbean sea. ( we had not even mentioned that it was our anniversary so that gesture made it extra special)
*The cabanas have security on site
*2 bikes included in front of each room
*Free Water equipment (kayaks, snorkels, etc,
*Eco- friendly- Outside the front office it is stocked with repellant and sunblock left behind by other guests which is great if you forgot yours.
They also have a spot to turn in your used soda bottles and they have a compost bin.
*Water Dispenser-Make sure to pack a water bottle to fill up when you leave the room on an activity to stay hydrated. We were spoiled that the room had one to fill up our water bottles and didn't have to spend extra money and time buying bottled and it's eco friendly)
*Each cabana has a little patio with coastal wooden patio chairs, a table and hammock to enjoy the morning sea breeze with a cup of coffee and books(which they provide too)
*A Private Deck- You can snorkel, swim or fish right off the deck located in front of the property. We were able to see some beautiful fish and sea life
*Fully equipped kitchenette with fridge, stove (cooking pans, cups, plates etc)
They even provide fresh coffee beans, coffee grinder, coffee maker and filters to make coffee
*Each cabana has its own patio with a table and chairs to to enjoy the view and a hammock to relax. Whether you have cabana with front a front view or your cabana is towards the back they are all just steps away from the private deck that takes you out to enjoy swimming, fishing and the gorgeous view of the Caribbean Sea.
Lastly I want to just say the staff their is Fantastic!
I lost my clear retainer in the room and tore the room up looking for it and could not find it.
I notified one of the young housekeepers that morning and that same day after after I returned she had placed it on the vanity for me.

Tip for your stay on the island: Make sure to wear both sunscreen and mosquito repellant. The sun will burn you and the mosquitoes on the island are relentless

An excellent place on a truly wonderful Island. The hosts are gracious and helpful. The rooms have everything you need and more. The location couldn't be better. It was hard to leave. This place will remain in my heart.

My husband and I stayed at Colindas for 5 nights and had the best time. We were so sad to leave. The rooms are clean and very well equipped (I highly recommend the front ones!) and the bikes were great. We played on kayaks and snorkelled from the private jetty every day. I am already recommending it to friend and will be back one day for sure. Best holiday ever! Thanks for a great time.
