I recently returned from a lovely relaxing 4 night stay at this delightful bed and breakfast. The location was excellent, just a short 5-10 minute walk to the main amenities of San Pedro. Although not located on the beach front it's only a few steps away.

The rooms are small but very well contained with air conditioning and a fridge. There is no need to bring beach towels as they are provided. There was some road noise but not so much to affect sleep. Wherever you stay you would be hard pushed not to the hear the engine noise from the golf buggies that are the main form of transportation in San Pedro. I barely knew Changes in Latitudes was full as I didn't hear a peep from the other guests.

The hot breakfast, which was different each day, was nicely served and set me up for the day.

I applaud Peggy and her team in providing a tranquil and friendly establishment. I cannot find a bad word to say.

Trip Advisor (and Lonely Planet) came through again. So pleased we selected Changes in Latitude and not just because we love the name. Ambergris is a pretty expensive destination so this B & B is considered budget. Yes, the room is compact and requires a little maneuvering for two people to move around comfortably but it is well equipped and nicely decorated. Bed was super comfortable. There was lots of shelving space. Fridge is an excellent add as we were able to keep snacks available and our drinking water cool. A/C and hot water worked well.

Real plusses are the staff...super friendly and helpful, the breakfasts...which are plentiful, fresh, varied (we stayed a week) and delicious. We used the included bikes to explore the north & south of the island. We also made good use of the pool passes (the beach was littered with sargassam seaweed & actual litter...not appealing).

One negative is that the road and airport noise is pretty loud. Bottling trucks rattle by at all hours during the night and the planes begin pretty early. Our room was right by the road so possibly better in other rooms but the property is small so ???

Unfortunately, the Wifi connection did not work in our room the entire time we were there. It appeared they were attempting to fix it but that did not happen....the technicians never came. We would not have minded so much, as it worked well with the connection in the outdoor lounge, but the time we wanted to use it was in the evening and the biting insects were CRAZY at that time so we retreated indoors.
(Be forewarned, they are NOT kidding when they say sand flies are bad on this island...one of the reasons we would not return).

Our suggestions would be to add a few additional hooks to hang up towels and clothing.
Also, it would be better environmentally to seek us the large water bottles to fill us from. And, the little sign in the bathroom said that towels would NOT be washed every day unless requested. But they were still changes. Nice, but unnecessary, especially when water is in short supply.

The room was very small but at least there were plenty of shelves and most importantly the bed's mattress was pretty comfortable. This wasn't my first choice in accommodation but it's price and location won us over and for 4 nights it was good enough. The staff is friendly and helpful for booking trips but not really sociable. The breakfast was served in silence, delivered quickly and efficiently, but keep a hand on your coffee else it will get whisked away with your plate no matter how much is left in the cup.

Biggest downside is no hot water; we could only get luke warm at best. It wouldn't be so bad except after a cold day snorkeling we were found wanting. This place is right next to a noisy road which is fairly quiet at night but around 7am we always got woken up by lawn-mower sounding golf cars, big trucks, or airplanes. The garden lounge is also in the same noisy location but still nice for a quick read.

Kudos for the dive lockers, these were very useful. The room air conditioner was also admirably quiet and worked perfectly. Overall this was a suitable budget alternative, however I think many improvements could be made in service, cleanliness, and functional accessories (window drapes, add a sink hole plunge to avoid losing little things down there, bathroom vent to prevent the dankness from building up).

If you're looking for a clean and cozy BnB on your visit to San Pedro, I would recommend this place to anyone. You won't find the amenities of a resort but with an Amazing and Friendly staff, clean rooms (A/C in each room!), free wifi, 25 yards away from the beach, walking distance to downtown, liquor store right across the street (for water), PADI dive school near by, it's a great option.
