This was our 3rd visit to Hol Chan, but our first chance to stay in this new building. On one of our previous trips we were on the ground floor right in front of the pool and while it was nice, we weren't always comfortable having people visiting just outside our door.
The Hol Chan property has really expanded since our last visit. They now have 3 pools, and a larger beach area with built-in beach palapas for shade. The property managers were great, and arranged for a taxi to meet us at the San Pedro airstrip and had a golf cart waiting in our personal parking space in front of the building. Carlos & Richard took care of everything including leaving us a basket of chips, the most delicious homemade salsa, AND Rum Punch! Be sure to speak with them about snorkel tours and fishing trips. So much to do … and not enough time!
My husband and I stayed with another couple in this 4th floor Penthouse Condo (there’s an elevator!) The condo # is 4D, and it was Ah-Maze-Ing! We were floored when we first walked in … there were views from every single window. This unit is on the top floor so even though there’s a house next door, the roof line of this home only reaches the 3rd floor. There is a HUGE ocean view from the massive glass doors that open all the way up to the lanai. From the side windows you can see all the way to town, and views of the lagoon and sunset from the back bedrooms. All of the units seem really well done, but we liked the advantage of not having another building facing right into our windows.
This condo is so much better than anticipated. The photos don’t do it justice. The King-size Bed in the Master is a tropical looking 4 poster bed, and the mattress was so comfortable … we slept like babies. The living room furniture is really nice and we loved the natural tables they have. (If I could buy something like them and ship home without breaking the bank, I would!) The kitchen was set up with everything we needed including 2 refrigerators. This was a huge plus for the guys to have a small drink fridge just for their Belikin Beer.
This property is located just a little south of town, so it’s quiet. It's a fun 20 golf cart ride to town. There are 3 restaurants nearby (1 is right across the road now) and a small market just down the road. Be sure to stop in at the Black Orchid as you pass by and order the Key Lime Martini.
I can't recommend this top floor condo enough if views and privacy are what you desire.
