Our anniversary. Check in was uneventful. Reservation in order. Room not ready so we did a walking tour. Had already eaten lunch. Walking tour was great. Historical ruins and history commentary were excellent. Walked near the lakes and the petting zoo. Back to our room for wine... then dinner at the Rice House. Not many people there as there were business groups having dinner at other places. Meal was exquisite. Service was excellent. Next morning had breakfast at their other restaurant and it was very good. Checkout at 11:00. Wife want to come back next year ...

Room Tip: We had a room with a living room . Quite nice. Slept well in bed and it was a quiet room. Coffee was in room .

I didn't stay there. We drove less than an hour from Atlanta to spend the day. We took our bikes to ride the trails. Be aware that the trails are very rough. Even the ones rated moderate. At one point we had to leave our bikes and finish the trails by foot. They are more hiking and mountain bike. Nevertheless, it was a lot fun and challenging. The resort is never too busy, it's mostly used for especial events (wedding, corporate meetings, etc). My husband and I are not used to trails like that, It was a work out. Afterwards we walked around the property and had lunch at woodland grill overlooking the golf course (the meal was okay). We stopped at the ruins and the museum attached to it. The museum guide was a wonderful lady that talked to us for a long time. She was very informative and entertaining. I love the place. Very well kept and wonderful views.

My husband and I really enjoyed our first experience at Barnsley Gardens. It is a neat set up with a fascinating history. If you get there late, just buzz the front desk from the gate. Check in was smooth and easy. The staff are absolutely amazing. The rooms (duplex cabins) are very nice. They include a bedroom, a living area, a powder room with toilet and sink and a bathroom with a tub, shower, and sink. It is decorated with little extras that make you feel at home. The rooms are immaculate and they make you feel at home. Ours had a swing on the front porch and we enjoyed sitting on it one evening while listening to the rain hit the tin roof. The resort property is beautiful. We enjoyed exploring the ruins and we also hiked on one of the hiking trails that runs through the property. There are no restaurants nearby so you will need to order room service or go to one of the restaurants on the property. The food is so tasty and the service is second to none. My husband loved the beer garden too. We truly enjoyed our time at Barnsley Gardens and we will definitely return!

We spent the weekend at the owners cabin sits on a hill overlooking a lake. Sits back from the main section of the cottages. Very private with its own fire pit that the staff will light and bring all the ingredients to do s'mores. Has a full kitchen fully equipped and will sleep 6 privately but will easily accommodate 8. full back porch overlooking lake and front porch overlooking enclosed pasture.

Room Tip: If you want complete privacy for a group of 8 or 10 Owner's Cabin

Very nice and beautiful. Little overpriced----enjoyed a great lunch at the grill. The southern living hamburger is a must!! Staff very nice but you have to wait awhile for even small things like ice brought to your room.
