We spent a night here in a two bedroom condo. Two huge beds in each room and a double sofa bed. Easily slept the 5 of us in.
We used the pool and it was lovely and warm and well maintained. The hotel is right at the top of the island, with the pier and waterfront close by. The beach was the other end of the street about 10-15 mins walk.

Well decorated and maintained. We had a suite upstairs with no outside space but we were only there for one night. I wish we had stayed for longer as Anna Maria is so relaxed and this place is great. The pool area is lovely, small but relaxing. There is a restaurant very close so we walked to it. The gulf beach is a bit further away but you can find a place to park. Recommended!

Room Tip: If you are staying for a few days make sure you have outside space to sit.

Recently attended a family wedding on Anna Maria Island; the couple chose the location and the resort property, so we simply reserved and arrived without making any choices. "Resort" is s t r e t c h i n g the definition a good bit, i think. What you get here is a rental by the week or a few days less. Nothing other than a bed and sitting room, and a minimal kitchenette. There is a pool, and there are a few gas grills (did not try either). No restaurant (although there are many near by), no room service and no service at all. When you check in, you're told where the supply rooms and told to help yourself if you need anything. So, in the sense of "resort" it is on par with Veranda Beach (for those not familiar with the term, it is like staying home) except it has none of the comforts of actually being home. I have no specific complaints other than I'd name the place Sunrise Garden Vacation Rental Property, as there is no resort aspect to it.

Note too, Anna Maria Island apparently runs their municipal functions on the backs of the paying visitors. Parking Tickets if you don't have a local plate are given out Very Liberally, while local vehicles parked in the same places are ignored. Excellent reason to go anywhere else if Florida is your desired destination. I've traveled extensively and never experienced such rapacious treatment of the customers.

Room Tip: don't park anywhere except the hotel's designated spots

Thank you for your feedback and for staying with us. We know that sometimes destination weddings and hotels/locations chosen by the couple may not always be the same as the guest staying may have chosen to spend their getaway and apologize if you felt in any way mislead. Anna Maria Island is a quaint, laid back island, full of mom and pop shops and restaurants, local charm and Old Florida style lodging (for the most part). Anna Maria Island and our property are not for everyone, especially a guest looking for more of a large hotel with on site restaurant, room service and amenities like that. Over the past several decades we have always been known as Sunrise Garden Resort. As one of the very few hotels left and allowed in the city of Anna Maria, we are proud of our name, full of history and memories for many locals and visitors. For many guests of ours, the laid back vibe where you can getaway from the hustle and bustle of the world is why they choose our location. We strive to be a property where guests can park their car and walk everywhere not worrying about anything other than relaxation in a beach town kind of way! It sounds like we were simply not the right fit for you and for that we apologize. We do hope you found some charm in our property and our island.

Great long weekend getaway with 2 other couples. Able to walk everywhere and pet friendly. Rooms were clean and enjoyed having the pool and bar b q available. Enjoyed the beautiful sunsets and my morning runs along the waters edge. Will definitely visit again.

Having read the last reviews on this place I really wanted to love it and it was good to an extent. The room was large, huge comfy bed, pool was great if a little untidy. The location is brilliant so close to the beach and restaurants and shops.

Our room however really needs updating. It was very grubby, dirty paintwork, unfinished skirting boards, the oven too was dirty, the fridge paint was peeling off the door, none of the kitchen cupboards closed properly. There was no kettle so we had to boil water in a pan to make normal tea and coffee. The first day I don't know whether the cleaner had left the door open whilst they were cleaning but we had to kill about five Mosquitos, there were geckos coming in, a huge spider and on the last night two baby frogs. Maybe because there was a huge gap under the door and most of the skirting boards had gaps in them? Despite the fact we got rid of the Mosquitos on the first night I continued to get bitten through the night each night. I actually had something which looked like a flea crawling on my iPad at one point. It just didn't feel clean, you couldn't walk around bare foot or your feet were dirty, there were dust webs on the bedside lamps and the lights in the bathroom. You couldn't see out of one of the windows for some kind of grime.

We didn't get a hugely warm welcome either, no explanation to anything, just led to the room and given a piece of paper with instructions on. After that we never saw a member of staff, not even to say good morning to and no one to ask how things were when we checked out.
