Was here for a wedding and decided to explore the grounds, the more you look the more there is to see. Make sure you see the bridge crossing the creek, a local land mark, and the millstone which created the Arroyo Grande economy.

Wonderfully restored and furnished. You can wander through and see so much from the 1800's. The docents are very friendly and knowledgeable. Great place to visit for the whole family.

Walk over the swinging bridge from the free parking lot downtown, and walk into the early 20th century. Open limited times, so check their website.

If you have any interest in the history of quaint Arroyo Grande, don't miss out on this sweet opportunity. The museum at Heritage House is a step into the past, in a home displayed as it would have been in the Victorian Era. Lots of photographs, and a room dedicated to artifacts of the local Chumash tribe. I especially enjoyed the kitchen which is all decked out for a typical housewife's activities.
In the vicinity can also be found the Santa Manuela one room school and a carriage house with early wagons, farm equipment.
One can also make an appointment to do some assisted research at the South County Historical Society's library adjacent to Heritage House.

we came in here and checked out everything they had on display while in the village for the strawberry festival (don't waste your time on the festival, hardly any strawberries and you could buy any of the junk there at a swapmeet). It ended up being the highlight of our walk to the village and we really enjoyed seeing the town's history as well as talking with the very nice gentlemen in the museum
