We are still looking for our "go-to" Chinese restaurant in Alameda & this review is based on our first visit to ARK - a pick-up/carry-out order on a Saturday night. The woman who took our order on the phone was polite, efficient & easy to understand, and the order was filled very quickly. When we picked up the food, the restaurant proper was very busy, with a good cross-section of diners, including many Asians - always a good sign, I think. We really liked the hot & sour soup with hand-thrown noodles - the soup is more flavorful & broth like than more typical corn starched thickened versions, with lots of chewy tofu cubes & several types of mushrooms. The steamed pork dumplings are very yummy & filling, too. We also tried the spring rolls, lemon chicken & sweet & sour pork - these were all good, but nothing special. We definitely will go back to ARK in the near future for more soup & to continue exploring their menu.
