We are still looking for our "go-to" Chinese restaurant in Alameda & this review is based on our first visit to ARK - a pick-up/carry-out order on a Saturday night. The woman who took our order on the phone was polite, efficient & easy to understand, and the order was filled very quickly. When we picked up the food, the restaurant proper was very busy, with a good cross-section of diners, including many Asians - always a good sign, I think. We really liked the hot & sour soup with hand-thrown noodles - the soup is more flavorful & broth like than more typical corn starched thickened versions, with lots of chewy tofu cubes & several types of mushrooms. The steamed pork dumplings are very yummy & filling, too. We also tried the spring rolls, lemon chicken & sweet & sour pork - these were all good, but nothing special. We definitely will go back to ARK in the near future for more soup & to continue exploring their menu.

Yummy firm General tofu! We've tried a lot of Chinese restaurants and this is the first one that uses firm tofu. Really good spring rolls as well! Delivery was a plus too

Ark is one of the best Chinese restaurant in Alameda. I've been here quite a few times and never disappointed. The service staffs have gotten nicer and friendly.
I loved their hand pulled beef stew noodle. Large bowl was huge and could feed a little army. Pickle with cooked peanuts appetizer was very refreshing and spicy. Little dumplings were succulent and delicious. Egg-tofu was a great delight and tasty. Loved their two different cod dishes which were both delectable. Highly recommend to anyone who's in town for a never cease to let your appetite down. ;)

We came here after a movie and the place was a bit loud but not too crowded. We ordered the meatless chicken chow mein again and it was tasty like I remembered it. We also tried something new: the large Ark Chow Ma noodle soup because of the pulled noodles. However, the flavors to us were a bit strange with mussels, squid, shrimp, wood ears. I still think for the most part that food is good here but it just depends what you order.

We hosted friends from San Francisco for dinner while we visited from Hawaii. We have always enjoyed our meal at the Ark Restaurant. The noodles are yummy, the hand pulled noodles and chow fun. You might also want to try the egg tofu.
