My wife and I booked an inexpensive stay so that we could visit the city and listen to a pitch for Marriott Vacation Club (MVC). We got a room on the Pulse floor. The Pulse staff was friendly and greeted us as we entered or exited the elevator area on the 7th floor. We checked in at the Marriott reception area in the lobby. The hotel is larger than you initially think; we learned that when we visited the Marriott Club lounge on the 8th floor (not part of MVC). The concierge in the Lobby area was helpful with answering questions about visiting the typical tourist attractions.

The hotel has a good location. The food trucks on Farragut Square are less than a 5-minute walk away. The Farragut North metro station (Red Line) is close by. It is a 10-20 minute walk to the White House and nearby monuments.

Our room (#719) was a little small. The bathroom was spacious; I liked the lighted main mirror. The room was quiet and had the standard amenities (dresser, desk, TV, refrigerator, safe, closet). The bed was comfortable. The A/C was a little on the loud side, but provided white (random) noise at night.

As Marriott Vacation Club owners, we used some of our points to book a 4 night stay at this Pulse location. We booked an Executive Suite which gave us a living area in addition to the bedroom.

We had to wait for an hour or so for our room to be ready, but were able to use the Club Lounge during this time. The room was a good size, with a large hallway containing a small sink and refrigerator, leading into the living area. The living area was perfectly adequate, but somehow the furniture layout didn't seem to fit the space that well. It certainly didn't have the same classy feel that we got from Marriott's Custom House Vacation Club in Boston. The air conditioning unit in the bedroom was noisy: we also had noise from the 24 hour construction work going on outside. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was pretty small, and the shower leaked small amounts of water through the shower door.

The hotel is in a great location, close to the metro and in walking distance to many attractions. We visited the Capitol Building, National Archives, most of the monuments, went to see the Washington Redskins on their opening game of the season, saw a performance at the Kennedy Centre, and visited the National Holocaust Museum. We could easily have spent several more days in Washington - there is so much to see.

The free breakfast in the lounge each day was good, and we also ate at the onsite restaurant on the ground floor on our first evening.

We really enjoyed our time in Washington, the location of the hotel is excellent, but the overall room quality was slightly disappointing.

We are MVC owners and this was our first trip using our membership. We stayed from Sunday to Wednesday over the Columbus day holiday. The location is excellent right next to the metro. See my review on that! The staff as very friendly and we were allowed to check in early. The lobby is quite impressive. Our room was tiny but functional. View if he dumpsters was disappointing. Good shower and lightning in the bathroom. The bed was uncomfortable and the AC is incredibly loud. I slept very poorly. The lounge on the 8th floor was ridiculously crowded with below average selections. The maid service was exceptional. The fitness center was ok but the layout needs work. All strength training equipment jammed together. The staff and location are the reason this hotel gets four stars rather than three, although communication prior to the trip was bad. I had to reach out twice before receiving a response to my question.

This hotel was amazing in every way. The rooms were amazing. Very spacious rooms. The concierges were so wonderful. We had a lot of questions and they gave us a lot of great advice on places to go. Got us tickets to the African American Museum :) It was awesome and told us which museums were the best and how much time to allot to each one. It was fabulous. Didn't really eat at any of the restaurants as we were on the move most of the time. Our view wasn't the best but we didn't really need one.

The hotel lobby and bar are very upmarket looking and the hotel is in a great location for all the major attractions - white house a short walk away. The vacation club rooms are located on the 7th floor. Our room was old, not particularly clean, looked out onto a wall and apart from the usual exceptional comfortable marriott bed had absolutely nothing else to recommend it. Worse point was the air conditioning - it was like having a fork lift truck operating in your room! The windows did not open and the room was dark, stuffy and oppressive. There is an executive lounge on the 8th floor which served a decent enough breakfast (although no early evening snacks at the weekend). Perhaps we were spoiled by coming here straight after the Custom House Pulse in Boston which was fantastic - this doesn't even compare. It was our first visit to Washington, from the UK, and we were very impressed with the city so would like to come back some day but would prefer to stay somewhere else when we do.
