The Palomar has beautiful and spacious rooms and is a great option to stay in DC. I have stayed here before a couple of years ago, and do recommend it. Really love the rooms. The gym is nothing to write home about, but the rest is great.

Stayed January 11-13 at the Hotel Palomar. Centrally located in the heart of DC, steps from Dupont Circle. Upon arrival, we were graciously welcomed by the valet. The check-in process was a breeze, allowing us to quickly get to our room (#832). I'll note that I made the reservation via Priceline.com and paid $100 per night. Quite a steal. The room was clean, tastefully decorated and suited our needs just fine. The bed was very comfortable, too. Our only complaint being that it was quite easy to hear any noise coming from the hallway. Kind of surprising, especially since our room was quite far from the elevator. We were both awakened both nights during our stay by noises coming from the hall. I mentioned this at checkout and was comped one evening's parking ($48 p/night).

Room Tip: A number of rooms have no view (e.g., 832). Also, ask for a room away from the elevators.

Dear jonathand1018,
Thank you very much for your feedback. Glad to read that you enjoyed the hotel and had a good time. On your next visit, you will not have to worry about noise anymore. We are starting a hotel wide project next week that will address this issue in every room. Best wishes, Stephane

This is the third time that we come back to stay a week at Thanksgiving and we would not stay anywhere else in Washington. The staff, staff, staff, make this hotel special. The rooms are large and very comfortable and well designed and thought out. So you have proper lighting where you want it. The design is classic, not over the top and trendy, so you feel comfortable. The bathrooms are also large and the towels always thick and soft.

Breakfast is always included in my package and it is good. Free coffee/tea and newspapers in the morning. Wine bar at night is enjoyable.

We stayed at the Palomar for 4 nights between Christmas and New Year and couldn't fault it. OK, the outdoor pool was closed, but there was no way I was going bathing outside in that weather. Otherwise, everything about it was first rate from the doormen, reception, restaurant staff and housekeeping. Comfortable, well appointed rooms and bathrooms, the only thing missing, and maybe it's a British thing, is tea and coffee in the rooms. Having said that there was complimentary tea and coffee in reception each morning and a Starbucks on the corner. Each evening there was complimentary wine in reception which was a great touch. Complimentary wifi, I can't think of anything else you'd want really. Would definately stay there again if I went to Washington.

We arrived at the hotel around 11 a.m. on a Saturday morning. The hotel is an easy walk from the Dupont Circle Metro Station if you have a suitcase with wheels. To our pleasant surprise, the staff said that our room was ready when we arrived. The staff was very polite and helpful. The room was clean, quiet, and tastefully decorated . The bed was very comfortable. We appreciated the complimentary "wine hour" in the lobby in the evening. The hotel is located in a very nice area and there are many good restaurants in all price ranges within walking distance. If you want to explore D.C. for the day, this is the perfect place to rest after a long day of museum-hopping. We felt very safe walking in the neighborhood, even at night. Even though this is a "dog-friendly" hotel, there were no unpleasant pet odors in our room. However, if you are allergic to dogs or do not like them, this might not be the place for you. There were a number of dogs in the lobby with their pet owners during the happy hour. We will definitely return to this hotel. The weekend rates were an excellent value and the staff truly made us feel welcome each time we walked in the door.
