The lobby and public spaces of this hotel are nice... and deceptive. The rooms could not possibly be more tired / dated / in need of updating. Walking into my room felt like a time warp. Peeling wall paper, bathroom that looks like it was last renovated around Watergate, tiny double bed... I am staying here because this is where a conference I am attending is being held. Based on the disconnect between the public and conference facilities and the rooms, it seems clear to me that is the business this place counts on - captive residents, more or less.
There are a lot of great hotels in the Washington area at roughly the same price point. Stay in another.
On the upside, the staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating.

You would expect to have a room which the wallpaper's not peeling off in several places. There were holes in the curtains the size of oranges and the heater/air conditioning unit was literally falling apart. Photos were provided to the front desk.

Great hotel. Excellent customer service from staff. So many amenties that accommofated your needs. Closes to so many historical attractions. Professional and couteous staff. Definitely would stay again.

Room tip: Room was big and spacious. It had a nostalgia feel but some updates. The view was beautiful and room was very comfortable and relaxing.

Dear Trek696751,

Thank you so much for your response! We're glad you enjoyed the OCB competition as much as we enjoyed hosting the event. It's also great to hear you had the chance to explore the attractions offered by both the hotel and the surrounding Woodley Park neighborhood. We look forward to welcoming you back for another amazing stay in the future.

Best regards,

Allison R

The staff is friendly and policy but that's not enough. Lights not working (room 214) is not what you expect. Paying 52 dollars for parking is absurd. But the negative surprise is the food. Lunch (for a conference) served cold. Breakfast with tea arriving after 20 minutes and no plan yoghurt. Mind you you pay 34 dollar for breakfast. Next time I will book another hotel.

However slightly dated, the Omni Shoreham Hotel has all the right parts to make it a perfect conference hotel. Centrally situated in nice surroundings, professional staff, good floor plan with both auditorium, break out rooms and luncheon options all contribute to make the stay and venue run smoothly.
