Description: Bistrot du Coin opened its doors on Memorial Day of 2000 by Yannis Felix and Michel Verdon. The motto is French, Fun and Friendly, this is our guideline to bring you the best experience ever at Bistrot Du Coin. The word Bistrot is defined in French as a neighborhood restaurant where you can eat good food at a fair price. The typical color of a French Bistrot is pale yellow to brown (otherwise known as Bistre) because the walls used to get dirty quickly from nicotine. Bistrot Du Coin is also known for its parties, three times a year to celebrate famous French events such as Bastille day on July 14th, The Beaujolais Nouveau on the third thursday of November or The New Year's Eve.

Bistrot du Coin (Corner Bistro) has been a go-to place for years, whenever I find myself in Dupont Circle. In past years, it was consistently very good. This year, things seemed a bit more tired and careless. Food (steak maison and steak tartare) still quite good; red wine by the glass was fresh and delicious (a frequent problem at other places that have a dozen or more open bottles sitting around, but this one tasted like a freshly-opened wine). But the décor is dated, bathroom out of service, everything just looking like a good cleaning and updating would help.

I'd actually give this 3.5.

The place looks good, very homey, warm and French, although big. The menu is a little all over the place, in that they had pasta on it. The steak tartare was actually good, but the other dishes were pretty average, and honestly the prices were high for what you get in terms of the quality.

There are much better bistros in DC, without naming names.

Visiting our son for the weekend four of us had a great time at this bustling bistros. The escargot with butter garlic and pesto, hanger steak with fries and touch's a la Reine where all great.
Plus a bottle of house Pinot Noir.

The bistro is popular. It is also loud, especially in the front section towards the windows. The ambiance is odd. The place looks cluttered and old. Whatever drummer they are marching to, it is an unusual one. Having Christmas trees and decorations up in March is a sign of the accumulating clutter. I would have preferred clean, fresh and welcoming. The service is decent, but not great, and very casual. The attire of the servers could be improved. The menu offers many options. The food is decent but not great. The mushroom soup was very good, but a filet forestiere was very chewy and hard to cut.
