Food is very good but portions are far toooo large which is off putting. Service was friendly but we did see our waiter much. Decor is old fashioned and dark. Prices are ok.

We are Italian. We cook Italian. We come from NYC. So, our Italian restaurants are very good. All that being said, we had a pretty good meal at Filomena. The restaurant itself is very pretty. It is also very busy so you most definitely feel like you are"somewhere". The portions are very large -- be sure to keep that in mind when ordering. The food is good, not great. But that might be as good as it gets for Italian in DC.

Visited this restaurant to meet a cousin for lunch while visiting the area. He said it’s a local favorite and it is now a tourist favorite! We all LOVED the bread which was delicious and all had wonderful dishes. The salad bar was also excellent. Picture is the calzone which was huge and the chicken parm sandwich which was also yummy and the linguini cardinale which was “fabulous” according to my aunt.

We stumbled on this restaurant on a Thursday night and thankfully, they were able to squeeze us in. The place was mobbed! We were excited to try the food after seeing such a big crowd. We ordered too much, the portions are huge but the food was delicious. I had the gnochi and my husband had the seafood pasta special, both were unforgettable but could have fed a family of five. Staying at a hotel, and as this is moderately priced, it was disappointing in that aspect. It's not a quiet, romatic place but if you are looking to load up on carbs, this is your place!

Seeing nonna hand make fresh gnocchi should be enough to give this place legitimacy for authentic Italian food that is filled with explosive flavors however our pastas were served just warm and just okay in flavor. Despite ordering a couple dishes that were favored by celebrities and ex-politicians we were not impressed. The best thing we had was the meatballs. Calamari appetizer was not bad, but not great either. We ordered three different cheesecakes as I was told by my friends that this place had the best cheesecakes they ever had....uummm sorry I didn't agree at all. My favorite and best cheesecake in my opinion is in the L.A. area that takes three days to make and costs $60 for the pie itself so to have these were disappointing. To conclude, service was atrocious. Unfriendly and unpleasant, we were not asked if we wanted fresh grated parmesan and our waiter was out of sight but left the grater on a tray next to our table so we decided to help ourselves. Wish it was a better experience.
