We spontaneously made a reservation here while in the vicinity of the White House. The welcome was delightful, the service was mostly very pleasant and efficient, and the food was fantastic. We enjoyed some of the best crab cakes we've ever had, and everything was delicious.

Since the Fairmont Hotel no longer serves a buffet in their Colonnade room for Thanksgiving, I have moved the Hay-Adams Thanksgiving experience to the top of my list. They serve the meal on their rooftop (Top of the Hay), featuring a panoramic view of the Whitehouse, the treasury, the Jefferson, the Washington Monument, and the Executive Office Building. It's a majestic one-of-a-kind view. That in itself would warrant the recommendation, but the food and service puts it over the top.
They have three seatings throughout the day (11am, 1:30pm, 4pm), so you can choose your time... provided that you booked early enough to get in. These seats are in demand. I think it is well worth the $110/head charge for a wonderful meal, a great settings and a spectacular view.

My husband and I were staying at the Hay-Adams hotel and this was one of the dining establishments that had been recommended to us to try.
We have some favourite places to eat in Washington DC from our previous visits, but as we were staying in a different hotel this trip, we decided it was a good opportunity to try some new restaurants as well.
Thank goodness we did as we both absolutely loved the food here....top notch food beautifully cooked & presented & served to you by an extremely pleasant & efficient waiter who genuinely seemed delighted when we told him how much we had enjoyed our meal.
The ambience was delightful, elegant yet understated....everything you would hope for really.
We cannot wait to return for our next visit.

We had been recommended to go there. We really appreciated. Cosy and elegant place. You already feel hungry just by seeing the restaurant. We had an exceptionnal waiter, Clarence I think, who helped us with the menu and made suggestions that turned out to be just fantastic. Good wine from a great wine list. and an excellent meal in a quiet restaurant, with super table service, what more to ask. Thanks for that great evening.
