We came here on a weekday evening when looking for a nice dinner in Deanwood, and enjoyed this welcoming Thai option. Obviously popular in the neighborhood, we found the bar area quite packed and buzzing (especially for a weeknight), spurred on by the R&B soundtrack, but not overly boisterous.
Taking a booth, we got very nice service, quick and attentive. Our meals were all excellent, coming out plated well and tasting better. The red curry with pork had just the bit of a kick that was expected, with a nice coconut milk broth, the pineapple chicken was sweet and tasty, and the pad see ew the right balance of noodles, broccoli and shrimp. The pad see ew did unfortunately come with tail-on shrimp, going for look over ease of eating, but this was a solvable problem.
Though in an unprepossessing neighborhood, the Sala Thai is at the forefront of a neighborhood redevelopment. Located on the first floor of a new apartment complex, it’s nicely decorated with a pleasant area for outdoor seating. Parking in the immediate area can be tricky, but we found plenty of spaces one block away in a well-lit lot shared by the local library and grocery store. If you’re looking for a nice dinner with a bit of elegance to it, give Sala Thai a try.
