We visited Akaroa and stayed in the Kokopu cottage. It is in the valley just as you enter in to Akaroa. It is a gem of a wee cottage completely surrounded by beautiful bush. There is a stream running right past - I can image in the summer it would be fab to be sitting outside and absorbing everything around. The cottage itself is small but very cosy. It has 2 bedrooms - we were there another couple - and it has a wonderful open fire - would highly recommend this property to stay in - I would love to go back.

Room Tip: This is not an hotel but a lovely wee cottage surrounded by native bush

Most gorgeous cottage with open fireplace. Best bed that we have ever slept in. Lovely garden setting. Did not use the outdoor bath due to rainy weather but this would be fun! Plenty of firewood and kindling replenished daily. Ideally suited to family of 4.

I stayed in Kokopu Cottage for two nights and it was lovely. I booked it for the outdoor bathtub and it was heavenly. I didn't know how to light the fire to heat the water so Wendy and Mark helped me out with that and I had a lovely hot soak in the cool evening breeze. It was a divine experience. The cottage itself is very comfortable. I was traveling solo, but it can very easily sleep three. Akaroa is just a five minute drive away. The grounds are great for wandering about. I definitely recommend Kokopu if you're going to visit Akaroa.

In April 2015, my husband and I spent the first few days of our honeymoon at Kokopu Estate. The experience was magical. The property is lovely and sprawling, with fruit trees and a sheep pasture. We stayed in Potager Suite, which is upstairs in the main house. The suite was well-equipped with a tea kettle, a huge bathtub, matching bathrobes, and all kinds of other amenities. Mark and Wendy were genuinely kind and as thougthful as can be. Their hospitality was one of the most endearing parts of our honeymoon. They constantly offered us tea and treats, many of which were homemade using ingredients from around the estate. They also went out of their way to help us create a wonderful itinerary for the rest of our travels in NZ, even suggesting we leave their B&B a day or two early so we could see all the things we wanted to see. The breakfasts were charming, delicious, and abundant, complete with garnishes from their gardens. The beginning of our trip was rainy/snowy, so we camped out in front of their giant fireplace with good books, so glad for rest and relaxation in the midst of our busy lives. I guarantee you Mark and Wendy will make you feel special and give you a warm, memorable experience you will want to come back to time and again. It was as magical an experience as we had hoped for.

Room Tip: Potager Suite was wonderful. It's upstairs in the main house.

The location is remote and rustic though not hard to reach. Owners are helpful and willing to assist.
We stayed couple of nights here and loved the quiet location. It is ideal for a good rest and relax.
